家族の具合が悪かったので、病院に連れて行った。歩けない状況だったので、タクシーを降りて、病院の車椅子をお借りしようとした。

本来なら、そちらから読めばよかったのかもしれないが、この本にもそのエキスが散りばめられている。
特に、日本のホワイトカラーの生産性が低いのは、①経営者や部門長、②調整が多い、③過剰な書類作成だとした上で、この本では、②と③に焦点を当てている。
さらに、スピードを上げるための8つの原則として、①まず全体像を描く、②丁寧にやり過ぎない、③仕事のツボを押さえる、④好循環をつくる、⑤工夫の仕方を工夫する、⑥前倒しする、⑦一歩先んじる、⑧二度手間を全力で避けるなど、具体的な方法もあげている。
さらに、思考のスピードを上げる具体的な方法として、メモ書き、仮設思考、ゼロベース思考、深堀りやフレームワークなどにも触れている。

これまで何人もの翻訳者が訳しているが、福田恆存氏のものを読んだ。
表現の古さは否めないが、ありありと目の前に情景が浮かび上がってくる。
特に後半のカジキマグロや鮫との格闘シーンは、描写がリアルで一気に引き込まれてしまった。
そんな中で、とても気になったセリフがあった。
『「けれど、人間は負けるように造られてはいないんだ」とかれは声に出していった、「そりゃ、人間は殺されるかもしれない、けれど負けはしないんだぞ」』
私が感じたこの小説のすべてを表していると言葉だと思う。

知らないことの多い私だが、このギンズバーグ女史が、実はアメリカでとても人気のあることをこの映画を観て知った。
女性の人権という点では、日本はアメリカなど欧米に大きく遅れていた。
つまり欧米の影響を受けて、日本の風潮も制度も変わってきたわけだ。
そう考えると、キンズバーグ女史の功績は、世界を変えたことにもなるかもしれない。
社会を変える力は、全てを疑ってかかることから始まるのだろう。
最後の弁明の場面はとても感動的だった。

ところで、この本で感心するのは、著者が細かな部分までよく調べ上げていること。
伝記の場合、良い点ばかりがクローズアップされるが、この伝記は悪い点も含めて、正直に、正確に書いている。
併せて、昭和近代史をよく知らなかった自分にとっても、太平洋戦争前後の状況が良く理解出来た。
少し前に読んだ「海賊と呼ばれた男」は出光佐三氏の半生だったが、その時期と重なっていたこともあり、大正から昭和の雰囲気を何となく掴めたという意味で、とても自分にとっても、有意義な本だった。

八景島シーパラダイス Hakkeijima Sea Paradise [essay]
事前に時間指定のweb整理券をネットで取得しておいたが、行ってみると、長蛇の列。
ソーシャルディスタンスも取れない、しかも炎天下の中で、約45分も並ぶ羽目になった。全く整理券の意味がない。
割引券利用だから、文句は言えないが、もう少し上手い方法がないか考えて欲しいと思いつつ、入場した。
入ってみると、案の定、コロナ禍と思えないほどの密状態。
ベビーカーを持っていたので、余計に神経を使った。
それでも、子供が喜ぶ姿を見るのは嬉しい。大きなサメを怖がったり、タツノオトシゴを興味深く見たりして、それはそれで、連れてきてよかったと思う。
最後にイルカショーを観た。シロイルカやセイウチ、大小のイルカがトレーナーの指示通りに演技するのは、いくら餌目当てだとは言え、とても難しいことだ。
こういう動物のショーはいつも感心させられる。
しかし、この間、子供は昼寝の時間。
連休の中の一日はこうして終わった。

伝記なので、最初から概ね想像できたストーリーだが、やはり清々しい気分になった映画だった。

The story is a so-called success story in which Mr. Potts, who was a little fat and bullied, challenges and succeeds without giving up his dream of becoming an opera singer, despite the twists and turns.
For me, who loves Europe, the scenery of his hometown of Wales was very interesting.
Furthermore, the scenery of Venice where he studied abroad is a wonderful space that makes me want to go again. This, along with the singing voice of the opera, added glamor to the movie.
In the midst of barriers such as bullying since childhood, failure in the game, illness, traffic accidents, poverty, and conflict with my father, I was encouraged by my wife, mother and friends to take a chance. It has led to success.

ジョン・タトゥーロが監督・脚本・主演している。本人が勿論ジゴロ役だ。
ウッディ・アレンは、主役である友人を唆してジゴロにするポン引き役で出演。しかも、あまり信心深くないユダヤ教徒。
そのため、ユダヤの人達との交流がある。
この映画の中で、私にとって、わかりやすい点とわかりにくい点があった。
わかりやすい点は、アメリカ人はセックスが本当に好きで、そのことを、恥ずかしがらないこと。
そして、ニューヨークはいろんな文化の人が住んでいること。
わかりにくい点は、正統派ユダヤ教のしきたりや考え方だ。男性のヘアスタイルでは、両脇の毛が巻き髪になっていたし、握手もしてはならないとのこと。
もう少し自分がユダヤ教のことを理解していれば、この映画の奥深い部分まで、楽しめたかもしれない。
そうした意味では、この映画はコメディという位置付けだが、私にとっては、ヒューマンドラマの要素を強く感じた。

集団接種会場でのワクチン接種を終えた。今年初めには、秋頃だろうと思っていたので、思いの外、早かったと思っている。
集団接種会場は、大きな体育館で、床一面をシートで養生していた。そして、人の流れのルートがしっかりと組まれていた。
さらに、沢山の案内係がいて、迷うことない。まるで、統一地方選挙の投票所のようだ。
接種の流れは次の通り。
①予約した時間毎(15分単位)にソーシャルディスタンスを保った椅子で待機
②接種券と運転免許証などによる本人確認
③医師による予診。私の場合は、お薬手帳により、基礎疾患が本当かどうかをチェックされた
④看護師による注射
⑤15分の待機
以上が接種の流れだ。
会場には15時13分に到着し、33分には出ることが出来た。したがって、待機時間を入れて正味20分しか要していない。つまり、かなり要領よく進められていたのだ。
接種後は、激しい運動を控える方が良いとのことなので、事前にジムでの筋トレを済ませた。だから、その後は、買い物などの雑用をして過ごした。
そして、接種後4時間経った今現在、全く痛みも頭痛も倦怠感もない。だから、アルコールは遠慮なく頂くことにした。

マル秘アート鑑賞セミナー Secret art appreciation seminar [Impression]
ベネフィット・ステーションの無料オンラインセミナーを受講した。
副題は「アートがもっと楽しくなる！〜知られざる西洋風景画の世界編〜」
講師は、東洋大学の増子美穂准教授。初めての受講だが、先生の熱い気持ちが伝わって来る良い講義だった。
結局、10時30分から1時間の予定が30分も伸びて12時に終了。質問も沢山あり、延長も仕方なったのだろう？
私にとっての何よりの収穫は、風景画の位置付けがわかったこと。歴史画、人物画よりも風景画は下の位置らしい。そのため、画家は風景の中に無理やり人の姿を描き込んで、人物画や歴史画と看做されるようにしたようだ。
さらに、興味深いのは、人物の位置による優劣だ。向かって左が偉くて右が偉くないのがセオリーとのこと。
実際に、レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの最後の晩餐の左側にいた人々は天国に行けたが、右側の人々は皆、地獄に落ちたそうだ。
さらに、興味深かつたことは、ダ・ヴィンチは、スフマートという輪郭線を描かない手法を使った最初の画家だということ。
ジョルジョーネの嵐という作品が、人物が入っていない純粋な風景画の最初だったことなども分かった。

The lecturer is Associate Professor Miho Masuko of Toyo University. It was my first time to attend, but it was a good lecture that conveys the passion of her teacher.
After all, the one-hour schedule from 10:30 was extended by 30 minutes and ended at 12:00. There were a lot of questions, and I wonder if there was no way to extend it?
The best harvest for me was to understand the position of landscape painting. It seems that landscape paintings are located below historical paintings and portrait paintings. Therefore, it seems that the painter forcibly drew the figure of a person in the landscape and regarded it as a portrait or historical painting.
What is more interesting is the superiority or inferiority of the person's position. The theory is that the left is great and the right is not.
In fact, the people on the left side of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper were able to go to heaven, but the people on the right side all went to hell.
What was also interesting was that he was the first painter to use Sfumato, a non-contouring technique.
It was also found that Giorgione's Arashi was the first pure landscape painting without a person.

灰谷健次郎氏の作品は随分前に「天の瞳」シリーズを読んだ。
その時には、「これからは教育こそが大事だ」と思い、教育ボランティアに私は参加した。
しかし、家人から「自分の子供の面倒もまともみれてないのに、他人の子供の教育など出来るのか？」ときつく言われ、そのボランティアは諦めたことを思い出した。
ということで、著者の本はかなり久しぶりだ。初版は1974年なので、言うまでもなく時代背景は異なる。
被差別地域、障害児への対応、女性の人権など、社会的にまだ大きく取り沙汰されていない課題に切り込んでいるところは、当時、勇気のいることだったろう。
現在では政治的に右左と識別されてしまうこともあるかもしれない。
しかし、人間のエゴを認めた上で、人を理解すること、助けること、そして、成長することなどを描いている。
児童文学というカテゴライズでは収まりきれない、深い人間への愛を感じる。
そんな意味では、むしろ今の時代にこそ重要な視点なのではないかと感じた。
古い本でも、読み直すと自分の中で、新しい発見があることに気づいた。

よくよく見てみると迷彩柄のデザインに「自衛官採用受付中」と書いてある。
今の職場でも、若い人の採用には苦労しているが、親方日の丸の自衛隊でも、苦労しているようだ。
確かに若い人の人口そのものが減っているし、実際に戦争や戦闘行為がほぼないにしても、災害時などで活躍する姿は、かなりの重労働そうだ。
残念ながら「お国のために、命を投げ打ってでも」と考える人はいないのだろう。
また、仮に自分がよくても、親などから反対されることもありそうだ。
しかし、どの組織もピラミッド型の組織をイメージして作られているとなると、やはり若い人が欲しいはずだ。
となると、どうして自分のような中高年にティシュを配ったのだろう？
まさか、私を採用したいはずはないが、仮に私が採用説明会に行ったらどんな対応をされるのか、少し興味を持ってしまった。

七夕祭り Star Festival [essay]

関東で七夕祭りと言えば、平塚だが、昨年に続き今年も大々的な開催が出来ないのが残念だ。
調べてみると、平塚の七夕の人出の最高は平成5年で361万人だった。最近はその半分もいかない状況で、右肩下りのようだ。
確かに平成5年前後は、七夕祭りが開催される金曜日に知り合いが沢山集まり、飾り付けを一通り観た後に、飲むというのが、恒例であった。
とても楽しく、その頃は、若さもあり、何もかもが右肩上がりになる雰囲気しかなかった。
しかし、七夕祭りの来場者数だけでなく、そもそもの人口も減り始めている。全世界で新型コロナウイルスが流行してしまい、今も行動を制約されている。
そして何より自分自身も歳を取り、友人が亡くなったりしている。
頭の中でみる未來は、右肩下りのことばかりだ。
しかし、少なくとも七夕の日くらいは、短冊に希望を託し、明るい未来を夢見たいと思う。

そして、その後も、淡々と同じ生活スタイルを続ける。

「素晴らしかな、人生」"Collateral Beauty" [Impression]
ウィル・スミス主演なので選んだ作品。悲嘆に暮れる主人公を、舞台俳優が演技で騙しつつ、励ますストーリー。
テーマが「愛」「時間」「死」という考えさせられる内容で、なんとも不思議な感覚で見終えた。
重たいテーマではあるが、ニューヨークのクリスマスシーズンを背景にしていることもあり、映像的には、活気もあり暗くない。
エンディングでは、少し驚きの展開などもあり、制作スタッフらが何を伝えたかったかは、理解出来た。
最後にメイキング映像があり、監督や俳優達が後日談を語る中で、よりこの作品の素晴らしさの理解が深まった。

The theme was "love," "time," and "death," and I finished watching it with a mysterious feeling.
It's a heavy theme, but it's not dark and lively in terms of images, partly because of the Christmas season in New York.
At the ending, there were some surprises, and I could understand what the production staff wanted to convey.
At the end, there was a making video, and as the director and actors talked about it at a later date, I deepened my understanding of the wonderfulness of this work.

久しぶりに、かなりのめり込んで読んだ。明治から昭和にかけての、戦争を含めた歴史と石油業界を中心とした政治経済の話が入り混じっていて、私はとても引き込まれた。
実在のモデルは出光興産の創業者、出光佐三氏。「海賊とよばれた」というのは、かなり大袈裟なタイトルではあるが、一人の個性的な経営者の生き方を描いた作品としても面白い。
しかし、あくまでも小説なので、どこまでが事実でどこまでが創作なのかは不明だ。
それでも、この本をもっと以前に読んでいたなら、私はガソリンや灯油などを買う際、全て出光興産の製品にしていただろう。
それほど、主人公の生き方は魅力的である。
しかし、今、私は残念ながら石油製品を買うことはない。
すでに大きく時代が変わってきているいることを感じながら、この伝記を読み終えた。

Still, if I had read this book earlier, I would have made everything Idemitsu Kosan's products when I bought gasoline, kerosene, and so on.
That's how attractive the hero's way of life is.
But now, unfortunately, I don't buy petroleum products.

墓参り Visiting the grave [essay]
一年前に亡くなった友の墓を友人達とお参りした。もう一年も経ったのかと思いつつ、つい最近の出来事だったような気もする。
ただ、変化かあったとすれば、皆の心の中に「こうして、友人がお参りしてくれるので、むしろ最初に死んだほうが幸せだったのかもしれない」ということだ。
確かに、高齢になればなるほど、足腰もおぼつかなくなり、病院へのお見舞いさえも、行き来出来なくなる。
特に、最後に残った人は、墓参りしなければならない回数が増える中で、本当に周りきれるだろうか？

今年の春の甲子園で優勝した東海大相模。応援していただけに、とてもビックリした。
門馬監督はまだ51歳とのことだが、健康上の理由なら仕方ないことだ。
それにしても、相模の低迷期が続いた後に、就任され甲子園での優勝という夢も見させてくれた。
今はまさに相模の黄金期となっていると思っているのは、少なくないはずだ。
監督が決断されたことは、仕方ない。後は、選手達がどこまで気持ちを高めていけるかが、今夏の勝負どころだ。
