雨の一般公開「護衛艦あまぎり」Rainy public viewing of "destroyer Amagiri

月に２回ある海上自衛隊横須賀総監部での一般公開は、生憎の雨。雨の中でカメラを使ったことがなかったので、随分難儀しました。

なんといっても傘を持ちながらの撮影はダメだと気付きました。風があったため、傘の下にカメラを入れてもレンズにも雨がついてしまうので・・・

それでも、現役最古参の護衛艦あまぎりに乗艦できたのは、良かったです。最近の護衛艦はステルス性を高めるために、のっぺりしたデザインになっています。それはそれで最新の技術を使っているので、素晴らしいですが、見た目はやはり戦艦らしい古いタイプが素敵だと思います。

The open house at the JMSDF Yokosuka General Headquarters, which is held twice a month, was unfortunately rained out. I had never used a camera in the rain, so it was very difficult.

After all, I realized that it was no good to take pictures while holding an umbrella. Because of the wind, even if I put the camera under the umbrella, the rain would get on the lens...

Still, it was nice to be able to board the oldest active escort vessel, the Amagiri. The latest destroyers are designed to be stealthy and spindly. That's great because they use the latest technology, but I still think the old battleship-like type is wonderful to look at.
