YOKOSUKA軍港めぐりでは、案内人さんの豊富な知識のもと、様々な艦艇情報などが披露されますが、横須賀ならではの話題として、潜水艦があります。
 
海上自衛隊の基地は全国で五か所ありますが、潜水艦を配置しているのは、広島県の呉と横須賀だけです。

ですから、港に停泊している潜水艦を見ることが出来るのは、限られた場所だけです。
 
そして、軍港めぐりのクルーズで、今回紹介されたのは、潜水艦隊員の生活ぶりです。

そのキーワードは、「音」。潜水艦は海の忍者、海の隠密と呼ばれ、敵は勿論、味方からも存在を知られないような行動をとっており、海中で音をさせるのは、ご法度。
 
だから、すべての行動において、音がしないように生活する必要があるそうです。

案内人さんからは、トイレットペーパーがガラガラ廻る音さえも制限されており、芯の無いトイレッとペーパーを使っているという紹介もありました。
 
外気も吸えない、音もさせてはいけないという厳しい制約がある仕事は、相当にハードな仕事だと理解できました。

During the Yokosuka Military Port Tour, information on various naval vessels is presented based on the wealth of knowledge of the guides, but one topic that is unique to Yokosuka is submarines.

There are five Maritime Self-Defense Force bases in Japan, but only Kure in Hiroshima Prefecture and Yokosuka have submarines.

Therefore, you can see submarines anchored in the harbor only in limited places.

And what was introduced on this cruise to military ports was the lifestyle of submarine fleet members.

The key word is "sound. Submariners are called the ninjas of the sea or the stealth of the sea, and they act in such a way that their presence is not known by their allies as well as their enemies.

Therefore, they need to live their lives in such a way that they make no sound in everything they do.

The guide introduced that even the sound of toilet paper rattling around is restricted, and that they use coreless toilet paper.

I understood that this is a very hard job, with strict restrictions on not being able to breathe outside air and not being allowed to make any noise.

YOKOSUKA軍港めぐり YOKOSUKA Military Port Cruise

海上自衛隊と米海軍の艦艇を同時に船上から見ることができるクルーズとして、徐々に人気になってきているこの軍港めぐり。

今回、このクルーズに参加したのは、護衛艦いずもという日本最大級の艦艇が、空母いずもに改修される前に、見ておきたかったから。

しかし、それ以外にも南極観測船として有名な砕氷艦しらせや、米国の駆逐艦なども見ることができました。

中でも、米海軍唯一の「ケーブル敷設艦ゼウス」という珍しい船が、着岸していたのは、なかなかラッキー。

いずれにしても、日々入れ替わる艦艇について、豊富な情報をもとに、分かりやすく解説、案内してくれるガイドさんのトークが素晴らしく、何度でも行きたくなるクルーズです。

This cruise is gradually becoming popular as a way to see both the Ｊapan Maritime Self-Defense Force and U.S. Navy vessels from the ship at the same time.

I joined this cruise because I wanted to see the destroyer Izumo, one of Japan's largest naval vessels, before it is refitted into the aircraft carrier Izumo.

However, I was also able to see the icebreaker Shirase, a famous Antarctic observation ship, and a U.S. destroyer.

Among them, I was quite lucky to see a rare ship, the Zeus, the only "cable laying ship" of the U.S. Navy, which had landed on the shore.

In any case, the guide's easy-to-understand explanations and guidance based on a wealth of information about the naval vessels, which change on a daily basis, were excellent, making this a cruise that I would like to return to again and again.

交響楽団と公共楽団 Symphony and Public Orchestras

交響管弦楽団と公共の吹奏楽団という意味で使っています。
吹奏楽団は民間でも沢山ありますが、なぜ、自衛隊や消防、警察などの公共機関に吹奏楽団があるのだろうか？と少し疑問に思うことがありました。

そして、その役割は、隊員の士気高揚、国民、市民との懸け橋、さらに国際親善などの意味があるようです。

そして、こうした組織の吹奏楽団の場合は、外で演奏することが多いということもわかりました。

なるほど、だからパレードなどでよく見かけるのかと思った次第です。

考えてみれば、外で特に歩きながらの演奏だと、楽譜も見ることが出来ないので、すべて覚えておく必要があります。

場合によっては強風が吹いたり、雨が降ってきたり、炎天下だったりと自然環境にも大きく左右されそうです。

I use the terms symphony orchestra and public brass band.
There are many private brass bands, but why do public institutions such as the Self-Defense Forces, fire departments, and police departments have brass bands? I have wondered a little.

The role of a brass band is to raise the morale of its members, to build bridges between the public and citizens, and to promote international goodwill.

And I also found out that brass bands of such organizations often perform outside.

I see. That's why you often see them at parades.

When you think about it, playing outside, especially while walking, you can't even see the sheet music, so you have to memorize everything.

In some cases, it seems to be greatly affected by the natural environment, such as strong winds, rain, or the hot sun.

海上自衛隊横須賀地方隊オータムフェスタは充実！ The JMSDF Yokosuka District Unit Autumn Festa is substantial!

10月21日に開催された横須賀地方隊オータムフェスタは、艦艇好き、海自好きの人にとっては、充実のイベントでした。新旧の護衛艦、潜水艦、迎賓艦などの公開や体験航海の他、海上保安庁の巡視船、陸上自衛隊や航空自衛隊の車両などの展示もありました。
さらに、隣の米海軍第七艦隊と海自横須賀の各々の音楽隊によるパレードなどもありました。

基本的に基地なので、充実したレストランや食堂などはなく、売店で食べるものを売っていましたが、列が長かったので、我慢して夕食は外にでてから食べました。

それでも、潜水艦の一日艦長就任式など思いもよらない式典に立ち会えて、とても満足しました。

海上保安庁の巡視船名は地元に由来 The name of the Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel comes from the local area.

船には船籍というのがあり、海上保安庁の船艇は、必ず「東京」になっています。

しかし、船名は、必ず地元に由来して命名されています。

地元というのは、全国ある11の管区のことで、例えば、北海道なら第一管区。東京、千葉、神奈川などは第三管区となっています。

そして、船名はその管区内にある地名などに由来していることを知りました。

一番大きなヘリコプター搭載型の巡視船だと、旧国名（例：みずほ）、や海上、山など（例：だいせん）、その次に大きい巡視船は半島や岬（例：いず、みうら）などです。

そのほか規模に応じて湾、島、会館、河川などからつけられているそうです。

ただし、小さな船になると、雪や霧、波、月、雲、風や花なども利用されています。

しかし、事情によっては、人事異動と同様、配置換えがあるそうで、管区を超えた場合は、原則として船名も変わるとのことです。

とにかく船の数が多いので、地元の人に分かりやすいように、そして愛着が沸くようにと、そうした措置がとられるそうです。

因みに、写真の巡視船あしたかは、静岡も所管する第三管区の所属で富士山の南隣にある「愛鷹山」が由来だと思われます。

巡視船としては大きくない「あしたか」は、速力35ノット、時速65キロとのことです。

違法漁業船や不審船がいた場合に逃げられないようにするためらしいです。

そして、20㎜の機銃があり、操舵室のあるブリッジからリモートで射撃できます。

陸だと消防隊、救急隊の他警察が担っている仕事を一手に海で担っていることがよく分かります。

さらに、それ以外に測量や調査までやっているので、エリアだけでなく、本当に責任範囲も広くあたまが下がります。
