海上保安庁の大型測量船平洋に乗船 Boarding the JCG's large surveying vessel Hirayo
同日に行われたSeaJapan2024という海事産業の国際展示イベントの一環で有明西埠頭で開催されました。
測量船の主な仕事は、海図作製ですが、最近では様々な目的があることがわかりました。
その中には、海洋権益を守るという役割もあるようです。それは、日本の大陸棚がどこまでつながっているかを調べることで、日本の影響化にある海域の範囲が決まることです。
その調査をするために、最新の360度回転するスクリューの導入、自律型の無人潜水艇や無人ボートなどを導入しているなど、かなり興味深い一般公開でした。

The event was held at Ariake West Wharf as part of SeaJapan2024, an international maritime industry exhibition event held on the same day.
The main job of survey vessels is to make charts, but recently I found out that they have various purposes.
Among them seems to be the role of protecting maritime interests. That is, to determine the extent to which Japan's continental shelf is connected to the rest of the world, thereby determining the extent of the ocean area under Japan's influence.
In order to conduct this research, they have introduced the latest 360-degree rotating screws, autonomous unmanned submersibles, and unmanned boats, etc. It was quite an interesting public viewing.

砕氷艦しらせに初乗艦！First time aboard the icebreaker Shirase! [Impression]
毎年、南極観測隊を送り届けており、今年も３月末に無事帰国しました。
今回、横浜の山下埠頭で一般公開があったので、私は初めて乗艦しました。
やはり大変な賑わいで、９時からの乗船開始なのに、10時には門を閉鎖したそうです。それでも、最後尾は12時近くにやっと乗艦していましたが。
人気なのは私たち国民だけでなく、海上自衛隊の隊員さんもこの船に乗りたいと希望する人が沢山いることが分かりました。
とても寒くて、厳しい環境だとは思いますが、何といっても普通の旅行では絶対に体験することができない空間と時間を過ごせるからでしょう。

Every year, it delivers Antarctic expedition teams, and this year, too, it returned safely to Japan at the end of March.
This time, there was an open-house event at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama, and I boarded the ship for the first time.
As expected, it was very crowded, and the gates were closed at 10:00, even though boarding started at 9:00. Even so, the tail end of the ship was barely boarded near midnight, though.
I found out that it is very popular not only among the public, but also among the JMSDF personnel, many of whom wish to board this ship.
I think it is a very cold and harsh environment, but I think it is because, after all, you can spend a space and time that you can never experience on an ordinary trip.

福島第一原発がある大熊町とその周辺を巡る旅 Trip to Okuma Town where Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is located and its surrounding area [Impression]
２日間に渡り、大熊町から富岡町、双葉町、浪江町、そしてJビレッジのある楢葉町と広野町など、いわゆる相双エリアを回りました。
そして、大熊町を例にとれば、震災前の人口は約一万人。今は約1000人。そのうち、役場や東電の関係者などで500人という状況で、帰宅困難区域を抱える町はほぼ同様だとわかりました。
多くの帰宅困難区域の現実や、震災遺構の浪江町立請戸小学校という衝撃的な建物を見た一方で、復興再生拠点内に開校した「学び舎夢の森」のすばらしい教育施設に感激もしました。
いろいろな人々が懸命に頑張っている感じが伝わってくる旅でした。
あえて、個人的な感想を言えば、震災から13年経っていますが、ようやく復興が始まりつつあり、むしろ震災が現在進行形という印象を強く持ちました。

A friend who is involved in the reconstruction of Okuma Town, where the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is located and the entire town was evacuated, invited me to visit this area for the first time.
Over the course of two days, we visited the so-called Soso area, which includes Okuma, Tomioka, Futaba, and Namie towns, as well as Naraha and Hirono towns where J-Village is located.
And taking Okuma Town as an example, the population before the earthquake was about 10,000. Now it is about 1,000. Of that number, 500 people work in the town office and for TEPCO, and I found that the situation is almost the same for towns in the hard-to-return zone.
While I saw the reality of the many hard-to-return zones and the shocking building of Namie Town's Hiketo Elementary School, which is a relic of the disaster, I was also impressed by the wonderful educational facilities of the "Learning House Dream Forest" that opened in the Reconstruction and Revitalization Center.
It was a trip that conveyed the sense that people from all walks of life are working hard.
On a personal note, although it has been 13 years since the earthquake, reconstruction is finally beginning to take place, and I had the strong impression that the disaster is still ongoing.

南極観測船という方が分かりやすいかもしれません。
ただ、この宗谷。南極観測だけではないのです。
ソ連通商代表部が発注して日本で建造されたにも関わらず日中戦争の悪化で、ソ連に引き渡されず、日本の民間貨物船に。
その後は、大日本帝国海軍に買い取られ、特務艦となり、兵器等の輸送を担います。
さらに海上保安庁の灯台補給船、南極観測船などを歴任した後に、北海道などで救難支援活動を実施。
こうした活動の中で、「奇跡の船」、「北洋の守り神」などと呼ばれるほど、強運の船であったのです。
だからこそ、永久保存されているのだということが、分かりました。

However, this Soya is not only for Antarctic observation. But Soya is not only for Antarctic observation.
Although ordered by the Office of the Trade Representative of the Soviet Union and built in Japan, it was not delivered to the Soviet Union due to the worsening Sino-Japanese War, and became a Japanese civilian cargo ship.
It was then purchased by the Imperial Japanese Navy and became a special purpose ship, responsible for transporting weapons and other cargo.
She also served as a lighthouse supply ship for the Japan Coast Guard and as an Antarctic research vessel, and then conducted rescue support activities in Hokkaido and other areas.
In the course of these activities, the ship was so fortunate as to be called a "miracle ship" and a "guardian god of the North Seas.
That is why the ship has been permanently preserved.
