海上自衛隊で巡航ミサイル「トマホーク」の教育・訓練が始まる？ Education and training for the Tomahawk cruise missile to begin in the JMSDF?

トマホークって聞くと、古くは湾岸戦争からイラク戦争などで米軍が先制攻撃につかった巡行ミサイルだと思いますよね。

そのトマホークを日本が購入して、海上自衛隊のイージス艦に搭載するとのことです。

それに先立ち、米軍がトマホークの使い方などを教育・訓練を海上自衛隊員に行うとの報道がありました。

私は、そのことをよく知らなかったので、今回少し調べてみたら、台湾情勢などが背景にあることがわかりました。

When you hear the word "Tomahawk," you may think of the cruise missiles used by the U.S. military in preemptive strikes during the Gulf War, Iraq War, and other wars.

Japan has purchased Tomahawk missiles and will install them on JMSDF's Aegis vessels.

Prior to this, it was reported that the U.S. military will educate and train JMSDF personnel in the use of the Tomahawk.

I did not know much about it, so I did a little research and found out that the situation in Taiwan and other issues were behind it.

護衛艦いずも F-35B戦闘機の整備は海自？それとも空自？ Destroyer Izumo F-35B Fighter Maintenance by JMSDF? or the JASDF?

横須賀地方総監部が実施している月に２回の潜水艦の一般公開。前回、急遽潜水艦の代わりに海自で一番大きな艦艇であるヘリコプター搭載護衛艦いずもになりましたが、今回もいずもでした。

そこで、私が少し気になっていたF-35B戦闘機を載せる場合に、整備はどっちの自衛隊が行うのかを聞いてみました。というのも、基地の配属は航空自衛隊になり、パイロットの訓練も当然ながら、空自が行うからです。

しかしながら、事実上、空母となるいずもで訓練する場合、どちらが整備を担うのかわかりませんでした。

隊員さんに伺ったところ、「まだ決まっていない」とのことでしたが、今後、どのように決まっていくのか、見守っていきたいと思います。

The Yokosuka Regional Admiralty conducts a bimonthly open house of its submarines. Last time, the submarine was suddenly replaced by the helicopter-carrying destroyer Izumo, the largest ship in the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and this time it was Izumo again.

So I asked which of the two Self-Defense Forces would be responsible for the maintenance of the F-35B fighter aircraft, which I had been a little curious about. The Air Self-Defense Force would be assigned to the base, and of course, the Air Self-Defense Force would conduct the training of the pilots.

However, when training on the Izumo, which is effectively an aircraft carrier, we did not know which of the two was responsible for maintenance.

When we asked a member of the team, he said, "It has not been decided yet," but we would like to keep an eye on how it will be decided.

マリーンルージュで横浜クルーズ Yokohama Cruise on the Marine Rouge

横浜観光の定番である「マリーンルージュ」に乗船しました。

アフタヌーンティーという午後のコースだったので、ケーキと紅茶だけいただきました。

ケーキは出航前に食べてしまったので、あとは、屋上のスカイデッキなど、外で過ごしました。

当日は、他の船の関係でベイブリッジをくぐることができないと、突然の航路変更を告げられましたが、天気もよく楽しく60分のクルーズを楽しむことができました。

もし、横浜に観光に来られるなら、デートなら別ですが、食事をつけずに、乗船のみとすることを私はおススメします。

We boarded the Marine Rouge, a popular sightseeing cruise in Yokohama.

It was an afternoon course called afternoon tea, so we only had cake and tea.

I ate the cake before the ship sailed, so I spent the rest of the time outside, including on the Sky Deck on the rooftop.

On the day of the cruise, we were suddenly told that we could not go under the Bay Bridge because of other ships, but the weather was fine and we enjoyed the 60-minute cruise.

If you come to Yokohama for sightseeing, I would recommend that you do not have dinner on the cruise, unless you are going on a date.

護衛艦いずも→空母いずもに Destroyer Izumo to aircraft carrier Izumo

海上自衛隊最大級のヘリコプター搭載護衛艦いずもに乗艦出来ました。急遽、横須賀地方総監部で、潜水艦の代わりに一般公開されたからです。

以前から、乗ってみたいと思っていので、とてもワクワクしました。

甲板には乗ることが出来ませんでしたが、とても広い格納庫には入れました。

トラック50台分も収容可能だそうです。

2024年度末から空母にするための改修工事が行われ、米軍が使用しているF35-B戦闘機を搭載することになるのが、2027年度の予定とのこと。

海上自衛隊悲願の空母化だそうです。

I was able to board the Izumo, one of the largest helicopter-carrying destroyers of the Maritime Self-Defense Force. It was open to the public on short notice at the Yokosuka District General Headquarters in place of a submarine.

I was very excited because I had wanted to go on board for a long time.

I could not get on the deck, but I could enter the very spacious hangar.

I heard that it can hold 50 trucks.

Renovation work to turn it into an aircraft carrier will begin at the end of FY2024, and it is scheduled to be equipped with F35-B fighter jets used by the U.S. military in FY2027.

It is said that this is the Maritime Self-Defense Force's long-cherished wish to convert the ship into an aircraft carrier.
