111年目の中原淳一展 Junichi Nakahara Exhibition in its 111th year

横浜駅東口にあるデパート「そごう」内にある美術館で、開催されていました。

戦前から戦後にかけて、若い女性から支持を得ていたイラストレーターというイメージを私は持っていました。

しかし、その理解は足りていないことが、展示を見て、よくわかりました。

勿論、圧倒的に若い女性らに影響を与えたのは間違いがないのですが、単にイラストだけでなく、ファッション、インテリア、雑誌編集など、様々な領域で活躍していた人であることがわかりました。

そして、そのデザインや考え方が、回り回って、新しく感じました。

そうした意味で111年というのは、興味深い企画です。

ちなみに、彼の「少女や女性に対する感性、情熱」は、当時の日本では、かなり珍しがられたのではないかと、心配もしました。

でも、時代のトップランナーとはそういうものだったのかもしれませんね。

The exhibition was held at the museum in Sogo, a department store located at the east exit of Yokohama Station.

I had an image of Nakahara as an illustrator who gained support from young women during the prewar and postwar periods.

However, the exhibition made it clear to me that this understanding was not sufficient.

Of course, he had an overwhelming influence on young women, but I realized that he was active not only in illustration but also in fashion, interior design, magazine editing, and many other fields.

And her designs and way of thinking were new to me in a roundabout way.

In that sense, 111 years is an interesting project.

Incidentally, I was also worried that his "sensitivity and passion for girls and women" might have been quite rare in Japan at that time.

But perhaps that is how it was with the top runners of the times.
