災害対応型巡視船「いず」は潜水指定船でもある Disaster response patrol vessel Izu is also a designated diving vessel

海上保安庁の一般公開で乗船した巡視船「いず」

日本初の災害対応型巡視船ということで、これまで数々の災害の際に出動していることが分かります。

とはいえ、実は私自身、他の巡視船の機能がどのようなものなのかを知らずに見学したので、医務室があることくらいしか、違いが分かりませんでした。

ただ、この船は潜水指定船でもあり、潜水士が乗船しています。

彼らは、専門の潜水士として乗船しているのではなく、日常の業務を行いながら潜水の訓練を受けて資格をとるとのことでした。

実際、ウエットスーツは勿論、酸素ボンベやザイル、担架などの機材が沢山倉庫に保管されていました。

陽に焼けて精悍な若い隊員が熱心に説明する姿を見ると、まさに映画「海猿」を思い出しました。

護衛艦きりしま見学会 Tour of destroyer KIRISHIMA

前回の潜水艦たいげいと同じ日に訪れた護衛艦きりしま。

潜水艦だけの見学では間が持たないと判断したようで、急遽用意されたようです。

ミサイル発射装置からイージススステム、速射砲など武器や装置が多彩で、単に見学する立場だと興味深い内容でした。

多くの税金を投入していることもあり、国民の理解が不可欠ですし、次代を担う人材も確保しないとなりません。

そうしたことを視野に入れて、手間のかかる一般公開を自衛隊も積極的に開催しているのでしょう。

ロシアのウクライナ侵攻、中国の海軍力の向上、北朝鮮の挑発的ミサイル発射などもあり、日本海を取り巻く情勢はより一層緊張感が高まっているため、海上防衛機能の強化が大事なことだと理解できた機会でした。

潜水艦は音との闘い Submarines struggle with sound

これまで私は、全く潜水艦のことなんて知りませんでした。

そこで、今回、海上自衛隊横須賀総監部から「緊急告知　潜水艦の背中に乗りませんか？」というツイート（旧Twitter）が来たので、緊急応募して行くことになりました。

護衛艦などと比べて、かなり不気味な佇まいを漂わせている潜水艦。

実際には音ととの闘いだと知りました。外装は音を跳ね返さないゴムのようなタイル張。

潜舵（せんだ）という潜ったり、浮き上がったりするための舵も動かしてもらっても全く音がしませんでした。

調べてみると、日本の潜水艦の静粛性は世界でもトップレベルとのこと。

ただ、原子力潜水艦ではないので、長期間、潜り続けることが出来ないのが、難点だと知りました。

案内してくれた自衛隊員の皆さんもとてもフランクで、丁寧に説明してくれたので、不気味だった潜水艦に対して一気に好感度があがった次第です。

Until now, I knew nothing about submarines at all.

So, when I received a tweet (formerly on Twitter) from the Yokosuka General Administration Office of the Maritime Self-Defense Force, "Urgent Announcement: Would you like to ride on the back of a submarine?"
so I decided to apply urgently and go.

Compared to destroyers, submarines have a rather eerie appearance.

I learned that it is actually a battle against sound. The exterior is covered with rubber-like tiles that do not repel sound.

The rudder, which is used to dive and float the submarine, made no sound at all, even when we were asked to move it.

I found out that Japanese submarines are among the quietest in the world.

However, I learned that the only drawback is that they are not nuclear submarines, so they cannot continue to dive for long periods of time.

The Self-Defense Forces personnel who guided us around the submarine were very frank and explained everything to us in detail, which made us like the submarine more than we had expected.

帆船みらいへ夕涼みクルーズ 横浜港 Enjoy a Cool Evening Cruise on the Sailing Ship Miraie at Yokohama Port

日本で唯一、一般人が乗船できる帆船、みらいへに乗って夕涼みクルーズを楽しみました。この船はグローバル人材育成推進機構という一般社団法人が所有し、主に企業の新人研修などに使われているそうです。

しかし、今回は横浜港を帆船でビールやバーベキューを楽しみながらクルーズできるという研修とはまったく違う目的で乗船できました。

一番小さなジブセイル一枚だけでしたが、乗船客が自らセイルをあげる体験ができたこと、横浜港で初めてみるような夕焼けを見ることができたこと、さらに海賊料理をイメージしたバーベキューなど、十分に楽しみました。

食事も飲み物もあり、18時から約２時間で5000円/人はとてもリーズナブルな乗船料でした。
全国各地の港で不定期でこのような企画を行っているようなので、興味のある方は試してみたらいかがでしょうか？

We enjoyed a cool evening cruise on the Miraie, the only sailing boat in Japan that is open to the public. The ship is owned by a general incorporated association called the Global Human Resource Development Organization, and is used mainly for corporate training of new employees.

This time, however, We were able to cruise around Yokohama Harbor on a sailing boat while enjoying beer and barbecue, which is a completely different purpose from training.

Although we had only one of the smallest jib sails, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of lifting the sail by ourselves, seeing the sunset as if we were seeing it for the first time in Yokohama Harbor, and even having a barbecue inspired by pirate cuisine.

With food and drinks, the fare was very reasonable at 5,000 yen/person for a 2-hour ride starting at 6pm.
It seems that ports around Japan offer this kind of program on an irregular basis, so if you are interested, why not give it a try?

昆虫食の自動販売機？ Entomophagy vending machines?

ある横浜市内の駅の改札口近くにある自販機コーナーに、あるのが昆虫食。

コオロギなどが、ケースに入って売られています。

最近、食べる人がいるとは聞いていましたが、自販機になるほどだとは思っていなかったので、かなりの驚き！

しかも一番高い2600円のは、タランチュラ。スコーピオンまで売っています。

買う人がいるのか、とても不思議ですが、時代は変わっているのだと実感。

私は絶対に食べないけど。

実は、これまで私は、日本武道館に数回行ったことがあるだけで、一度も北の丸公園をじっくり散策したことがありませんでした。

そして、今回、改めて認識したのが、歴史と文化と自然の３拍子揃った、しかも「超一流の」公園だったいうことです。

元々は江戸城。明治時代は近衛師団の兵営地。その後皇居となり、昭和天皇の還暦の記念に一般開放された由緒ある場所。

そのため、江戸城の田安門や清水門は重要文化財ですし、近衛師団の司令部として使われた建物は東京国立近代美術館の分室として残っています。

さらに、天然記念物のヒカリゴケがあったり、有名な千鳥ヶ淵もあり、四季折々の自然を楽しむことが出来ます。

また、ご存知のとおり、日本武道館では日本の武道の中心で、かつコンサートなど音楽や芸能にも使われます。

さらに国立の美術館や科学館、公文書館などもあり、文化面でも超一流の場所であると言えます。

これまで、三流の私は、この公園になかなか足を運ぶことがありませんでしたが、超一流に触れることで、まずは二流にステップアップできることを夢見て、今後も足を運んでみたいと思っています。

To tell the truth, I have only been to the Nippon Budokan a few times and have never taken the time to explore Kitanomaru Park.

And this time, I realized once again that it is a "top-notch" park with a triumvirate of history, culture, and nature.

Originally, it was Edo Castle. In the Meiji era, it was a barracks for the Imperial Guard Division. Later, it became the Imperial Palace, and was opened to the public on the occasion of the Emperor Showa's 60th birthday.

For this reason, the Tayasu-mon Gate and Shimizu-mon Gate of Edo Castle are important cultural properties, and the building used as the headquarters of the Konoe Division remains as a branch of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.

Furthermore, there are Hikarigoke mosses, a natural treasure, and the famous Chidorigafuchi, where visitors can enjoy nature in all seasons.

As you know, the Nippon Budokan is the center of Japanese martial arts and is also used for concerts and other music and performing arts.

It is also a top-notch place in terms of culture, with a national museum, science museum, and archives.

As a third-rate person, I have not been able to visit this park very often, but I would like to continue to visit in the future, dreaming that by being exposed to the very best, I can first step up to the second-rate level.

個人から貰った東京国立近代美術館 The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo given by a private individual.

割と話題の展覧会が開催されると、よくわからなくても美術館に足を運ぶ質の私。

実は、先日報告したガウディとサグラダ・ファミリア展の会場である東京国立近代美術館は初めてでした。

日本で最初の国立美術館なのに、行ったことがなかったことに自分でも驚きました。

立地は、皇居外苑の北の丸公園という、まさに東京の中心部。

1969年の竣工ですが、建築家谷口吉郎氏の設計は、古さを感じさせないモダンなデザイン。太い列柱と凸凹の梁が特徴的でした。

そして、何より驚いたのは、国立なのに、国が造ったものではなく、民間の個人が建設して寄付したとのこと。

それは、㈱ブリジストンの創業者である石橋正二郎氏。

以前はブリジストン美術館、現在はアーティゾン美術館となっていますが、美術に造詣が深く、思い入れもあったのだと思います。

今では絶対にあり得ないような話ですが、最初の国立美術館にはそんなエピソードがあったことを知り、何となく得した気分になりました。

Whenever a rather hot exhibition is held, I have the quality of visiting the museum even if I don't know much about it.

In fact, this was my first visit to the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the venue for the Gaudi and Sagrada Familia exhibition I reported on the other day.

I was surprised to find out that I had never been to this museum, even though it was the first national art museum in Japan.

The location, Kitanomaru Park in the outer gardens of the Imperial Palace, is right in the heart of Tokyo.

Although the building was completed in 1969, architect Yoshiro Taniguchi's design is modern without being old-fashioned. The thick colonnades and convex and concave beams were distinctive features of the building.

What was most surprising was that although it is a national building, it was not built by the government, but was constructed and donated by a private individual.

It was Shojiro Ishibashi, founder of Bridgestone Corporation.

Formerly the Bridgestone Museum of Art and now the Artizon Museum of Art, I think he had a deep knowledge of art and a feeling for it.

It is something that would never happen today, but I felt somewhat privileged to know that the first national museum of art had such an episode.

水産庁漁業調査船「開洋丸」初めての一般公開 Fisheries Agency's fisheries research vessel "Kaiyo Maru" opens to the public for the first time.

今年3月に就航した水産庁の漁業調査船。三代目の「開洋丸」が日本で初めて一般公開されました。

実は、私は、漁業調査船の必要性も役割も全く知りませんでした。単に新しい船が公開されるのを見たかったのです。

そして、多くの事実を知り衝撃を受けました。それは地球温暖化の影響で水温が上がっているため、サケやサンマが獲れなくなっていること。

そうした環境の変化があるのに、それぞれの国の事情で魚を取りまくってしまうことがあるということ。

だからこそ、今の現状を正確にデータで抑えて、他国とも議論しなければならないことなどです。

そのための調査だということが良くわかりました。

これまで馴染のなかった水産庁、漁業調査などの意味や役割を理解するとともに、実は、私たちの食生活に直接影響していることも少し衝撃的でした。

一般公開にあたっては、新造船ならではの最新鋭の装備に驚きながら、乗組員の方々の熱意ある説明や対応に嬉しくなりながら、とても満足して初めての一般公開を終えました。

赤レンガ倉庫と新港サークルウォーク Red Brick Warehouse and Shinko Circle Walk

今や横浜一とも言えるくらいの観光名所となった赤レンガ倉庫。ここではほぼ常に何かしらのイベントが開催されています。

実際、明日２日と３日には、横浜防災フェア2023が催されるそうです。

そのため、そうしたイベントが開かれる前日や翌日は、準備だったり撤去だったりを業者の人達が行っているため、写真を撮ろうとしても邪魔なことがあります。

したがって、イベントの情報をよくよく確認してから行くことをお勧めします。

また、この赤レンガ倉庫に徒歩で向かう場合、馬車道駅、みなとみらい駅、或いは桜木町駅から行くことになります。

その際に必ず目にするはずなのが、新港（しんこう）サークルウォークです。

読んで字のごとく円形の歩道橋です。全周225.5メートルのトラス構造の歩道橋です。

下には横断歩道がないため、どうしてもこの歩道橋を渡らないとならないので、実際には長距離を歩かされている気になるのですが、写真映えするので許せます。

赤レンガ倉庫に行く際は、否応なく歩くことになりますが、折角なので、是非写真を一枚撮ってみたらいかがでしょうか？
