「歴史、文化、自然」それも超一流が３拍子揃った北の丸公園 History, culture, and nature: Kitanomaru Park has all three in spades!

実は、これまで私は、日本武道館に数回行ったことがあるだけで、一度も北の丸公園をじっくり散策したことがありませんでした。

そして、今回、改めて認識したのが、歴史と文化と自然の３拍子揃った、しかも「超一流の」公園だったいうことです。

元々は江戸城。明治時代は近衛師団の兵営地。その後皇居となり、昭和天皇の還暦の記念に一般開放された由緒ある場所。

そのため、江戸城の田安門や清水門は重要文化財ですし、近衛師団の司令部として使われた建物は東京国立近代美術館の分室として残っています。

さらに、天然記念物のヒカリゴケがあったり、有名な千鳥ヶ淵もあり、四季折々の自然を楽しむことが出来ます。

また、ご存知のとおり、日本武道館では日本の武道の中心で、かつコンサートなど音楽や芸能にも使われます。

さらに国立の美術館や科学館、公文書館などもあり、文化面でも超一流の場所であると言えます。

これまで、三流の私は、この公園になかなか足を運ぶことがありませんでしたが、超一流に触れることで、まずは二流にステップアップできることを夢見て、今後も足を運んでみたいと思っています。

To tell the truth, I have only been to the Nippon Budokan a few times and have never taken the time to explore Kitanomaru Park.

And this time, I realized once again that it is a "top-notch" park with a triumvirate of history, culture, and nature.

Originally, it was Edo Castle. In the Meiji era, it was a barracks for the Imperial Guard Division. Later, it became the Imperial Palace, and was opened to the public on the occasion of the Emperor Showa's 60th birthday.

For this reason, the Tayasu-mon Gate and Shimizu-mon Gate of Edo Castle are important cultural properties, and the building used as the headquarters of the Konoe Division remains as a branch of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.

Furthermore, there are Hikarigoke mosses, a natural treasure, and the famous Chidorigafuchi, where visitors can enjoy nature in all seasons.

As you know, the Nippon Budokan is the center of Japanese martial arts and is also used for concerts and other music and performing arts.

It is also a top-notch place in terms of culture, with a national museum, science museum, and archives.

As a third-rate person, I have not been able to visit this park very often, but I would like to continue to visit in the future, dreaming that by being exposed to the very best, I can first step up to the second-rate level.
