護衛艦いずも→空母いずもに Destroyer Izumo to aircraft carrier Izumo

海上自衛隊最大級のヘリコプター搭載護衛艦いずもに乗艦出来ました。急遽、横須賀地方総監部で、潜水艦の代わりに一般公開されたからです。

以前から、乗ってみたいと思っていので、とてもワクワクしました。

甲板には乗ることが出来ませんでしたが、とても広い格納庫には入れました。

トラック50台分も収容可能だそうです。

2024年度末から空母にするための改修工事が行われ、米軍が使用しているF35-B戦闘機を搭載することになるのが、2027年度の予定とのこと。

海上自衛隊悲願の空母化だそうです。

I was able to board the Izumo, one of the largest helicopter-carrying destroyers of the Maritime Self-Defense Force. It was open to the public on short notice at the Yokosuka District General Headquarters in place of a submarine.

I was very excited because I had wanted to go on board for a long time.

I could not get on the deck, but I could enter the very spacious hangar.

I heard that it can hold 50 trucks.

Renovation work to turn it into an aircraft carrier will begin at the end of FY2024, and it is scheduled to be equipped with F35-B fighter jets used by the U.S. military in FY2027.

It is said that this is the Maritime Self-Defense Force's long-cherished wish to convert the ship into an aircraft carrier.
