今年3月に就航した水産庁の漁業調査船。三代目の「開洋丸」が日本で初めて一般公開されました。

実は、私は、漁業調査船の必要性も役割も全く知りませんでした。単に新しい船が公開されるのを見たかったのです。

そして、多くの事実を知り衝撃を受けました。それは地球温暖化の影響で水温が上がっているため、サケやサンマが獲れなくなっていること。

そうした環境の変化があるのに、それぞれの国の事情で魚を取りまくってしまうことがあるということ。

だからこそ、今の現状を正確にデータで抑えて、他国とも議論しなければならないことなどです。

そのための調査だということが良くわかりました。

これまで馴染のなかった水産庁、漁業調査などの意味や役割を理解するとともに、実は、私たちの食生活に直接影響していることも少し衝撃的でした。

一般公開にあたっては、新造船ならではの最新鋭の装備に驚きながら、乗組員の方々の熱意ある説明や対応に嬉しくなりながら、とても満足して初めての一般公開を終えました。

The Fisheries Agency's fisheries research vessel, the third generation "Kaiyo Maru," was put into service in March of this year. The third generation "Kaiyo Maru" was opened to the public for the first time in Japan.

That is why we need to accurately suppress the current situation with data and discuss it with other countries.

I understood well that this is what the survey is for.

It was a little shocking to understand the meaning and role of the Fisheries Agency and fisheries surveys, which I had not been familiar with before, and also that they actually have a direct impact on our dietary habits.

I was surprised at the state-of-the-art equipment that only a new ship can have, and was delighted by the crew's enthusiastic explanations and responses, and left the first public viewing with great satisfaction.
