海上保安庁の一般公開で乗船した巡視船「いず」

日本初の災害対応型巡視船ということで、これまで数々の災害の際に出動していることが分かります。

とはいえ、実は私自身、他の巡視船の機能がどのようなものなのかを知らずに見学したので、医務室があることくらいしか、違いが分かりませんでした。

ただ、この船は潜水指定船でもあり、潜水士が乗船しています。

彼らは、専門の潜水士として乗船しているのではなく、日常の業務を行いながら潜水の訓練を受けて資格をとるとのことでした。

実際、ウエットスーツは勿論、酸素ボンベやザイル、担架などの機材が沢山倉庫に保管されていました。

陽に焼けて精悍な若い隊員が熱心に説明する姿を見ると、まさに映画「海猿」を思い出しました。

As Japan's first disaster-response patrol vessel, Izu has been deployed in numerous disasters.

However, as a matter of fact, I myself visited the ship without knowing what the functions of other patrol vessels were, so the only difference I could see was that it has a medical office.

However, this ship is also a designated diving vessel and has divers on board.

I was told that they are not on board as professional divers, but are trained and certified to dive while performing their daily duties.

In fact, there were many equipment such as oxygen cylinders, ropes, and stretchers, not to mention wetsuits, stored in the warehouse.

Seeing the tanned and fearless young crewmembers enthusiastically explaining their duties reminded me exactly of the movie "Umizaru.
