久しぶりに、かなりのめり込んで読んだ。明治から昭和にかけての、戦争を含めた歴史と石油業界を中心とした政治経済の話が入り混じっていて、私はとても引き込まれた。
実在のモデルは出光興産の創業者、出光佐三氏。「海賊とよばれた」というのは、かなり大袈裟なタイトルではあるが、一人の個性的な経営者の生き方を描いた作品としても面白い。
しかし、あくまでも小説なので、どこまでが事実でどこまでが創作なのかは不明だ。
それでも、この本をもっと以前に読んでいたなら、私はガソリンや灯油などを買う際、全て出光興産の製品にしていただろう。
それほど、主人公の生き方は魅力的である。
しかし、今、私は残念ながら石油製品を買うことはない。
すでに大きく時代が変わってきているいることを感じながら、この伝記を読み終えた。
After a long time, I read it with a lot of devotion. From the Meiji era to the Showa era, the history including the war and the political economy centered on the oil industry were mixed, and I was very drawn to it.
The actual model is Mr. Sazo Idemitsu, the founder of Idemitsu Kosan. "Called a pirate" is a rather exaggerated title, but it is also interesting as a work that depicts the way of life of a unique manager.
However, since it is a novel, it is unclear how far it is true and how far it is creative.
Still, if I had read this book earlier, I would have made everything Idemitsu Kosan's products when I bought gasoline, kerosene, and so on.
That's how attractive the hero's way of life is.
But now, unfortunately, I don't buy petroleum products.
I finished reading this biography, feeling that the times have already changed significantly.
