しかし、これは火山の爆発があったからだ。
グリーンランドの北で、まさに北極海なので、これまで発見されなかったのだろうか？
しかし、人工衛星が飛び回る現在、しかも有人の国際宇宙ステーションもあるのに、気づかないのだろうか？

「Playbook」は、アメリカンフットボールの用語で、「作戦図、戦略本」といった意味。この2つの言葉を合わせると、「絶望を希望に変えるための作戦図」と訳すことができるそうだ。

謎解き「ゴッホと文化財」Solving the mystery "Van Gogh and Cultural Properties" [Impression]
横浜のそごう美術館で開催されていた東京藝術大学スーパークローン文化財の展示。ゴッホの描き方の特徴などを紹介する第一章、ゴッホが何故浮世絵を模写したのか、クローン文化財の目的などが第二章、クローン文化財によって未来はどう変わるかを考えるのが第三章となっている。
ゴッホの作品が好きな自分にとっては、勿論第一章に興味があった。
そして、視覚混合や筆触分割という技術を使っていることを知った。
更に、マネ、ドガ、モネ、セザール、ゴーギャン及びボナールの代表作をクローン文化財として掲載し、ゴッホとの筆使いの比較をしたコーナーは中々興味深かった。
また、日本に初めて来たゴッホ作品で、1945年に空襲で消失した「芦屋の《ひまわり》」をクローン文化財として蘇らせた作品が初公開されていた。
また、星月夜という夜の風景の中で星が光を放つ様を描いた作品も、印象に残った。
本物は後世まで保存しなければならないが、多くの人に見てもらうと劣化するというジレンマを解決するのが、クローン文化財だということも理解した。
まさに、サブタイトルにあった「つくる文化♾つなぐ文化」へ挑戦するきっかけとなる展覧会だ。

更に興味深かったのは、バーチャル・ツアーの試みだ。
コロナ禍の今でこそ、実際にYouTubeなどでバーチャルツアーを体験できるが、著者の提案である地図と写真などから推察しながら、街を探索する方法の方が、手間はかかるが面白そうだ。

「マキアヴェッリ語録」塩野七生 "Machiavelli Glossary" Nanami Shiono [Impression]
これは、ニコロ・マキアヴェッリの言葉の抜粋という珍しい形式の本である。
何故、完訳でも、要約でも、解説でもない本を書いたのか。その理由を著者は「読者に」と題して、最初に説明している。
時代背景やヨーロッパで教育を受けていない日本人にとっては、下手に解説などするより、単純に彼の言葉を「抜粋」にした方が良いと判断したことは、この解説でよく理解出来た。
さらに著者が抜粋とした理由をもう一つあげている。
それは、「500年このかたくり返されてきた、彼の思想への賛否両論の対立の歴史を調べた結果、到達した結論でもありました。」ということ。
このことについては、巻末にある唐津一氏の解説にも、次のように記載されている。
「古くからマキアヴェッリズムは、権謀術数の代名詞のように言われて、君子の近寄るものではないと扱われていた。」と。
実は、私は著者の代表作である「ローマ人の物語」を読んでいたが、現在、中断中である。
長編のため、時間のある時に一気に読み進めたいと思い、本棚にしまってあるだけだが、一定の登場人物の名前は記憶にあった。
そうしたら意味では、古代ローマのことを少しでも覚えていたことは、この本を読む上では助けになった。
さて、その上での読後の感想を言えば、とてもすんなりと頭に入ってきた。
特に、「君主論」からの抜粋については、納得する内容ばかりであった。言い換えれば、上に立つ者の当たり前のセオリー、定石、基本が確実に引用されていて、決して権謀術数という印象は持たなかった。
「なるほど、これが著者の思惑だったのか」と、最後に納得して読み終えた。

時代背景やヨーロッパで教育を受けていない日本人にとっては、下手に解説などするより、単純に彼の言葉を「抜粋」にした方が良いと判断したことは、この解説でよく理解出来た。
さらに著者が抜粋とした理由をもう一つあげている。
それは、「500年このかたくり返されてきた、彼の思想への賛否両論の対立の歴史を調べた結果、到達した結論でもありました。」ということ。
このことについては、巻末にある唐津一氏の解説にも、次のように記載されている。
「古くからマキアヴェッリズムは、権謀術数の代名詞のように言われて、君子の近寄るものではないと扱われていた。」と。
実は、私は著者の代表作である「ローマ人の物語」を読んでいたが、現在、中断中である。
長編のため、時間のある時に一気に読み進めたいと思い、本棚にしまってあるだけだが、一定の登場人物の名前は記憶にあった。
そうしたら意味では、古代ローマのことを少しでも覚えていたことは、この本を読む上では助けになった。
さて、その上での読後の感想を言えば、とてもすんなりと頭に入ってきた。
特に、「君主論」からの抜粋については、納得する内容ばかりであった。言い換えれば、上に立つ者の当たり前のセオリー、定石、基本が確実に引用されていて、決して権謀術数という印象は持たなかった。
「なるほど、これが著者の思惑だったのか」と、最後に納得して読み終えた。

「幸せのレシピ」"No Reservations" [Impression]
腕はいいが、融通が効かない女性シェフの物語。突然面倒をみることになった姪との関係、自分を慕ってくれる部下の男との関係を描きながら、最後には幸せを掴む。
厨房内のスピード感あふれる動きや会話のやりとりが、小気味良く描かれている。
自分に沢山のルールを課している主人公が、少しずつ氷塊していく姿も微笑ましかった。

6人の偉人から学ぶ仕事のルール、成功鉄則を紹介しながら、展開する大変わかりやすい構成。
6人は、トーマス・エジソン、アンドリュー・カーネギー、渋沢栄一、豊田佐吉、小林一三、そしてヘンリー・フォードだ。
中でも、私が感心したのは、カーネギーのルール。代理のチャンスを活かす「代理力」、よくあるルールをうまく言語化する「ことわざ力」、どんな案件でも1分以内に決断下す「即答力」だ。
そのほかにも、喜んでタダ働きすることや、トラブルは相手に有利になるように解釈することなど、一流になるために参考になることが書かれていた。

渋谷のBunkamuraザ・ミュージアムで開催されるので、事前にチケットを確保しておいた。コロナウィルスの感染者数が連日、過去最高となる中で、渋谷へ行くことは、少し躊躇した。
しかし、平日でしかも雨だったので、人は少ないだろうと、思い切って出かけることにした。
残念ながら、その予想は外れた。会場には多くの観覧者が来ていた。
これまで私はマン・レイ氏を写真家だと思っていたが、絵画やデザインなどマルチな才能があることがわかった。
そのマルチな才能だけでなく、私には沢山羨ましいと、思ったことがあった。
一つは、色々なところに住んで活動したこと。ニューヨーク、パリ、ハリウッド、そして最後にはまたパリに戻っている。
次に、パリではマルセル・デュシャンをはじめ、ピカソ、ヘミングウェイやココ・シャネルなど著名な芸術家や社交界の人と付き合ったこと。
特に、カトリーヌ・ドヌーブのポートレイトは本当に綺麗だった。
最後に、入れ替わり立ち替わり素敵な女性と付き合えたことだ。
特に、ファッション・モデルで、のちに有名な写真家となるリー・ミラーが弟子になった時の横顔の写真は印象に残った。
彼の作品は、その時代時代によって変わっており、あくなき探究心があったことも理解した。
芸術家として有名になることと、作品を生み出すのはとても大変な事だろうが、これほど芸術家を羨ましく思ったことはなかった。

千歳鶴大吟醸「吉翔」Chitose Tsuru Daiginjo "Kichisho" [Impression]
びっくりするくらい美味しかった。流石に大吟醸。山田錦を40%まで磨いているが、そうしたマニアックなことを、説明するのも野暮だ。
そもそも自分では絶対に買わないだろうというレベルのお酒だと後で知った。実は、貰い物なのだ。
私が一番好きなアルコールは日本酒だけど、外でも家でもあまり飲まないことを知っている人がプレゼントしてくれたので、余計に美味いのかもしれない。
歳をとったらこうした美味しいお酒をちょっとずつ、毎日飲むのが心身ともに健康によいのかもしれない。

そうすると、自分の睡眠の長さも質もよくないことが分かってきた。
特に、平日の睡眠時間が短いことや深い眠りの状態の割合が少ないことが心配になってきた。
そこで、標題の本に飛びついた。読んでみると、私のこれまでの習慣が悪かったことがよくわかる。
本書では、「人生の質を睡眠が握っていることを自覚する」ことの大切さから入り、朝起きたら自然光を浴びるおkと。寝る前にはスマホなどブルーライトを遮断することなど、聞いたことがある内容が記載されていた。
一方で、運動、食事、温度、瞑想、アルコールなど私自があまり気にかけていなかったことも睡眠に影響することが分かった。さらに、アーシング（地面に足をつけること）という初めて聞く言葉もでてくるなど、驚きの内容もあった。
実践するには、かなり生活スタイルを変えないとならないことも多いが、出来ることから初めてみて、睡眠の質があがるかチャレンジしてみたい。

「炎の陽明学 山田方谷伝」矢吹邦彦 "Flame Yomei Gaku Yamada Houkoku" Kunihiko Yabuki [Impression]
岡山県高梁市にある備中松山城は訪ねたことがあった。だから、どれだけ田舎なのかは承知していた。しかし、山田方谷という陽明学者でいて、あの上杉鷹山よりも素晴らしい藩政改革を行ったことは、知らなかった。
そうした意味で、大きな驚きとともに、新たに調べるべき偉人を知れたことで、この本を読んだ収穫は十分にあったと思っている。
著者は、山田方谷との手紙のやり取りをしていた豪商、矢吹久次郎の４代目の子孫にあたる人である。彼は父親からこれらの手紙をともに、山田方谷の伝記を書くようにと、遺言されていたという。
そのため、実は、大政奉還の際の草案を山田方谷が書いていることなど、新事実も記載されており、とても興味深い。
この本は、山田方谷の伝記ではあるが、その生きざまを描写する背景として、幕末から明治の新時代へと移り変わる政治や経済の状況が垣間見えたところは、とても勉強になった。
一度、訪ねたことがあった備中松山城だが、改めて山田方谷をめぐる旅に出てみたいと思わせる一冊だった。
I have visited Bitchu Matsuyama Castle in Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture. So I knew how rural it was. However, I didn't know that he was a Yangming scholar named Hokoku Yamada, and that he carried out a wonderful reform of the feudal affairs than that of Uesugi Youzan.
In that sense, I think that the harvest of reading this book was sufficient because I was surprised and learned a new great man to investigate.
The author is the fourth-generation descendant of Kyujiro Yabuki, a wealthy merchant who exchanged letters with Hokoku Yamada. He is said to have been willed by his father to write a biography of Hokoku Yamada with these letters.
Therefore, in fact, it is very interesting because it contains new facts such as Yamada Hokoku writing a draft for the repatriation of the Taisei Hokan.
Although this book is a biography of Hokoku Yamada, I learned a lot from the fact that I could get a glimpse of the political and economic situation that changed from the end of the Edo period to the new era of the Meiji era as a background to describe the way of life.
Bitchu Matsuyama Castle, which I had visited once, was a book that made me want to go on a trip around Yamada Hokoku again.

歩き方から、所作全体を修正されて、徐々にミスらしくなっていく姿が面白い。
そして、馬鹿にしていたミスコンテストに対して、素晴らしいものだと、彼女自身が変わっていく。
最後には、仕事も成功し、恋愛も成就するので、面白くて安心感があった。
2作目は、一躍有名になった主人公が、誘拐された友人であるミス・アメリカを助ける物語。
新しい登場人物とのやり取りも面白い。さらに、変装シーンもあり、サンドラ・ブロックの素晴らしいところが、前面に出ている。
最後は、恋愛ではなく、友情で終わるところもよく考えられていた。
いずれもサンドラ自身が制作に関わっている。

これらにびっくりしたが、それ以上に驚いたのはフィリピンでは、6種類も接種ができるということ。
日本ではまだ3種類しか接種出来ないのにだ。日本では、副作用の検証ができるまで認められないが、それは、何ごとも完璧でないとならないという日本人の気質も影響しているように思う。
