事実上、オリンピック開幕 Virtually the opening of the Olympics [essay]
開会式は、明後日なのに、すでにソフトボールや女子サッカーの予選が始まった。
つまり、事実上のオリンピック開幕である。
なんとなく、なし崩し的な開幕であるが、何故開会式より前に試合があるのだろうか？
テレビ放映の事情と各競技の決勝までのスケジュールから、このような変な現象になっているのだと推測するが、個人的には、かなり違和感がある。
ただ、実際に競技に臨む選手にとっては、目の前の試合が大事なのであろう。だから、大会後半にしか試合がない選手くらいしか楽しめないはずだ。
それより、他の関係者や一般の視聴者の方が興味があるのかもしれない。

Somehow, it's a destructive opening, but why is there a match before the opening ceremony?
From the circumstances of the TV broadcast and the schedule until the final of each competition, I presume that this is a strange phenomenon, but personally, it feels quite strange.
However, for the athletes who actually participate in the competition, the match in front of them may be important. Therefore, only players who have a match only in the latter half of the tournament should be able to enjoy it.
Rather, other stakeholders and the general public may be more interested.
