「蒼ざめた馬」アガサ・クリスティ "The Pale Horse" Agatha Christie

NHKのドラマを録画しておいて観た。ドラマの内容の前に1961年頃のロンドンの時代が、日本と比べて本当に進んでいることに驚いた。

その上で、アガサ・クリスティの原作の映画だが、最初からはてなマーク？？がたくさんついてしまった。

つまり、理解しにくいということ。なんとなく、犯人像は想像できていたが、全ての事柄を解明しないで終わったのが、少しスッキリしない。

あまりアガサ・クリスティの作品については、本も映画も私は慣れていなかったので、ちょっとだけ期待はずれだった気がする。

コロナ禍になって、すっかり飲み会がなくなり、また、映画館にも行かなくなってしまった。

その代わりに芝居を観たり、コンサートに行ったり、美術館に行くことが増えた。

それはそれで楽しいし、有効なお金の使い方だと思って、私は納得している。

そんな中で唯一ストレスに感じるのが、美術館の日時指定だ。

密を避けるという意味では、理解するし、必要な措置だと思う。

でも、美術館は時間のある時に思いついて、ふらっと行きたくなるものだ。

だから、細かい時間設定をされると、かなり精緻に予定を組み立てないと、エントリー出来ない。

勿論、大人気で多くの観客が来ることが想定されているなら仕方ないが、もう少し、大雑把な時間設定にしてもらいたい。

例えば、日にちだけとか、午前午後だとか。

美術館にとっては、入館者の予測が立つので、とても都合がいい仕組みなので、簡単には元に戻さないと私は予想するが、出来るだけふらっと行きたくなる人のことも考えて欲しい。

墓参りツアー Tour to visit the grave

概ね月に一度墓参りに行くことにしている。しかも、2箇所に行くので、自分の中では墓参りツアーと名付けている。

そして、自分の車はすでに処分してないので、バスを使って行く時は、ほぼ一日仕事になってしまう。

本日は幸い家族の車に乗せてもらえたので、とても早く楽にツアーを終えることが出来た。

ところで、まだ5月だというのに暑い。自分にとってはこのくらいの暑さが限度でこれ以上暑くなると、途端に外に出たくなくなる。

でも、雑草が伸びるこれからの季節は、やはり定期的に行かないと、酷いことになる。他のお墓の手前、また先祖の手前、放っておくのは気が引ける。

仕方ない。暑さに耐えて、墓参りすれば先祖もしっかりと見守ってくれるだろう。

「高嶋ちさ子&加羽沢美濃 カジュアルクラシックスmeets ゆかいな音楽会」相模女子大学グリーンホール "Chisako Takashima & Mino Kabasawa Casual Classics meets Fun Concert" Sagami Women's University Green Hall

テレビでお馴染みの毒舌バイオリニストが、本業ではどんな仕事をするのかと思い脚を運んでみた。

最初にピアニストの加羽沢さんとは24年間一緒に仕事をする中で、彼女らの2つのルールがあるとの話があった。

その一つは「皆が知っている曲を演奏する」こと。次は「1曲5分以内にすること」だそうだ。その理由は加羽沢さんの集中力が持たないとのことだが、実際には観客を飽きさせないためだと私は思った。

実は、プログラムに演奏する予定曲が11曲と書いてあったので、演奏時間は正味55分だけなのかと心配した。

しかし、その心配はすぐに払拭出来た。曲の合間に高嶋さんと加羽沢さんのトークが当然のようにある。

実際、高嶋さんの毒舌トークも冴え渡り、クラシックのコンサートの割に大笑いすることがかなりの頻度であった。

また、「四季」の演奏前には、それぞれの季節の詩と曲調の説明があったり、バイオリンの弾き方のテクニック解説をしたりで、クラシックをわかりやすく解説してくれた。

また、メンバー紹介を兼ねて、チェロやビオラの魅力を語るコーナーもあり、観客を楽しませるような工夫がふんだんに組み込まれていた。

それぞれの演奏曲も素晴らしく、そしていろいろな説明もあり、笑いもあり、高嶋ちさ子さんのファンになってしまった。とても得した気分のコンサートであった。

「熱帯魚」吉田修一 "Tropical fish" Shuichi Yoshida

私は、以前、吉田修一氏の作品「悪人」と「怒り」を読んだことがある。

どちらものめり込むように読んだ記憶がある。

そして、久しぶりに彼の短編集を読んでみた。「熱帯魚」の他に「グリーンピース」、「突風」という作品もある。

どの作品にも共通しているのが、主人公が若い男で、ちょっとだらしなかったり、不真面目だったりする。

若者特有の自由で崩れた生活、女性との関係などの雰囲気は、青春小説と言える。

しかし、そんな中でも、きちんと生きようとする姿も垣間見えるところが、現実離れしていない。

この短編集を読んでいた間、私は3つ普段しないことをした。
一つは朝の通勤での乗り越した。次は昼寝の開始時間を過ぎた。最後にテレビを見ている時にCM中に読んだ。

つまり、やはりのめり込んで読んでしまった。それだけの魅力がある小説だということだ。

野ざらし紀行、再発見 Nozarashi Kikou, rediscovery

松尾芭蕉最初の紀行文である「野ざらし紀行」の押し絵入り自筆稿が再発見されたとの新聞記事を先日読んだ。

以前の自分なら何ら気に留めなかった記事だ。
しかし、今年から、俳句に興味を持ち始めたので、多分目に入ったのだと思う。

芭蕉が俳人だと理解していたが、押し絵も自分で描いていたことは知らなかった。

15メートルにも及ぶ蒔絵とのことで、俳句と文章、絵がどのようになっているのか、実際に見てみたいと思った。

10月から京都の福田美術館で公開されるようなので、そのための旅をしてみようかとも思う。

しかし、俳句と絵で訪れた場所を表現するなんて、松尾芭蕉という人はとても粋な人だったんだなと思うようになってきた。

「奇跡の人」東京芸術劇場 "The Miracle Worker" Tokyo Metropolitan Theater

3部制で休憩は2回、合計3時間20分の長丁場の芝居。

3重苦のヘレン・ケラーを辛抱強く言葉を教え込んだサリバン先生の物語で演劇界では超ロングセラーの演目。

主役はテレビや映画でも活躍している高畑充希さん。ヘレン役は当然セリフがないが、平祐奈さん。彼女はサッカーの長友選手の奥さんの妹といえば、わかる人が多いらしい。

私はあまり知らなかったが、サリバン先生自身は障害者施設で育ち、しかも盲目だったことがあるとのことだった。

舞台装置は割とシンプルだが、多面的な見せ方が出来る工夫がされていた。

そして、芝居は愛と絆を表現しており、迫力とエネルギーに満ちていた。

最後のエンディングは期待したより少し派手目の演出のような気がしたが、充分に泣ける納得の終わり方。

一緒に行ったパートナーからは、「これまで観た芝居の中で最高だった」とのコメントも。

確かにそのレベルで平日の夕方に無理して行った価値がある作品だった。

A partner I went with commented, "It was the best play I've ever seen."

Certainly it was a work worth forcing on a weekday evening at that level.

「吉田松陰」池田諭 "Shoin Yoshida" Satoshi Ikeda

明治維新の立役者達を沢山育てた思想家である吉田松陰のことを、私はあまり知らなかった。

そして、何故、一地方である長州・萩の人で、わずか30歳で亡くなっているにも関わらず、多くの革命的な弟子達に影響を与えたのか？
しかも、獄中の期間が長いのにだ。

その秘密を私は知りたくて、この本を読んでみたが、特に松陰の思想形成や人間教育への考え方などは参考になる。

また、それぞれの弟子達との関係を通して松陰を見るという視点もこの本の興味深いところだ。

忙しい人は第五章の「現代に生きる松陰の思想」だけを読んでも、充分な理解できるはずである。

現代の若者に向けてもそのまま通じる言葉として、私が最も感銘を受けた松陰の言葉を紹介して、終わりにしたい。

「己のため、己の実行のためにこそ学を為すことである。」

And why did he influence many revolutionary disciples in a region of Hagi in Choshu, even though he died at the age of only 30 years old.

I read this book because I wanted to know the secret.And In particular, the idea formation of Shoin and the way of thinking about human education are helpful.

Another interesting aspect of this book is the perspective of seeing Shoin through relationships with each of his disciples.

Busy people should be able to fully understand by reading only Chapter 5, "The Thought of Shoin Living in the Present."

I would like to conclude by introducing the words of Shoin, which I was most impressed with, as words that can be understood by young people today.

ミレービスケット Millet biscuits

昭和のビスケットというイメージだが、実は私は子供の頃、これを食べた記憶がない。

森永マリービスケットや日清のココナッツサブレは沢山食べたはずだが、これは知らない。

多分、関東ではあまり流通していなかったのだろう。

だから、私は調べてみた。そしてわかった。ミレービスケットは、高知の名産品だった。

何故か、そのミレービスケットがオヤツとして出てきたので、食べる前にちょと描いてみた。

キャラクターの女の子たち、そのバックのビスケット、さらに袋の質感もいまひとつ満足出来るレベルにならない。

多分、思い入れがが足りないのだろう。

はしご美術館？ Go Museumhopping?

何軒ものお店でお酒を飲むのがはしご酒。今回はタイトルの付け方に悩んだ。つまり、「酒」の代わりになるのは、「絵」や「写真」などの作品だからだ。では、はしご絵とかはしご作品ではまったく意味が通じない。

そこで、はしご美術館とした。多分、一般的には「美術館めぐり」が正しいのだろう。

最初から横道にそれたが、今日は３つの美術館に行ったことを伝えようとしたのだ。

今回のメインは「メトロポリタン美術館展」である。六本木にある国立新美術館で開催中で、宣伝や広告にも力が入っている。

折角六本木に行くなら、ついでに最近リニューアルオープンしたばかりの東京ミッドタウンにあるサントリー美術館にも行ってみたくなった。

ここでは、大英博物館所蔵の「北斎展」を開催している。
実は以前、大英博物館に行った際、日本館だけが休館で見ることができなかった。他の美術館に北斎の作品などを貸出中だったのだ。そのリベンジという意味もあった。

さらに、東京ミッドタウンに行くなら、富士フィルムフォトサロンに寄らないのは勿体ない。ということで、ここで開催されている５つの写真展も観ることにした。

結果は満足。しかし疲れた。
作品を観て感動や好奇心は増したが、意外に歩き回るのは体力を使う。

帰宅後に、気持ちは充実しているが、でも身体はヘロヘロになっているところを客観的に考えると、はしご酒もはしご美術館も大して変わらないかもしれない。

小満や自転車飛ばし顎マスク 44

今日は二四節気の小満。夏日になる日も多くなり、長袖にするか半袖にするか悩ましい季節である。

そんな中で、発表されたのがマスクのこと。外部で人と話さなければ、マスクは不要との見解が専門家から出された。

そんなことは、皆以前からわかっていたこと。しかし、悲しいかな日本人の性で、外であってもきちんとマスクをつけていた。

ようやく外ならOKということになり、しかも絶対に人が近寄らない自転車ならマスクを外しても良くなった。

それでも、結局「顎マスクだけど、ちゃんとマスクはありますよ！」のアピールをしている自分がちょっと情けない。

そのバチが当たったのか、帰りに乗ろうとした自転車がパンクをしていた。

仕方なく、自転車を引きながら歩いて帰る羽目になり、さらに情けない気持ちになった。

「旅だから出逢えた言葉」伊集院静 "Words I met because I was traveling" Shizuka Ijuin

私は著者のエッセイがとても好きだ。この本は、旅をテーマにしているので、さらに気になって読んでみた。

この本はクレジットカードのダイナースクラブの会員誌であるシグネチャーという冊子に連載されていたエッセイをベースに構成されている。

著者の取材や個人的な旅を通じて出逢った33の名言を紹介するエッセイ集である。

例えば、城山三郎氏の言葉で、「人が実際、その目で見たものに、真実はありますから」などだ。

どの名言も「なるほどなぁ〜」と納得する言葉ばかりであり、後でもう一度読んで噛み締めたいと感じた。

さらに、旅慣れた著者のコメントとして、私自身に刺さった言葉があった。それは「旅の目的はなるたけシンプルで、余裕のある時間の使い方をした方がよかろう」ということ。

世話しない旅をいつもしてきた自分にとって、丁度、次の旅の検討をしていたので、とても心に響いた。

そして、この本を読んだ後に私が行うと決めたことは2つある。

一つは著者が本の中で紹介していた名画がどんな作品なのかを調べること。出来ればリアルに見てみたいが、全ては叶わないと思う。

そして、もう一つがこの本の続編を読むことだ。

And after reading this book, there are two things I decided to do.

One is to find out what kind of masterpiece the author introduced in the book. I would like to see it realistically if possible, but I don't think everything will come true.

And the other is to read the sequel to this book.

「対立の世紀」イアン・ブレマー "US vs THEM" Ian Bremmer

日経新聞の広告に惹かれて私はこの本を読んだ。
著者はアメリカの政治学者で、世界の国々の政治情勢にも詳しいようだ。

サブタイトルに「グローバリズムの破綻」とあるように、グローバリズムの進行による、勝ち組と負け組などの様々な対立の状況を紹介している。

特に、「12の断層線」と称した第二章では、ブラジル、トルコ、ロシア、中国など12カ国における対立構造に言及している。

個人的には、トルコの状況が良くわかったのが、良かった点だと感じている。

これらを読み進むうちに、世界各地での状況に全く希望が持てなくなり、かなり暗い気持ちになった。

そんな中で、民間企業や非営利組織の取り組みは唯一の光になるが、それもまだまだ大きな力になり得ないようだ。

いずれにしても、グローバリズムが進む中で、さて日本はどうするのかを考えさせられる本であった。

ただし、この本を読むのにはかなり骨が折れた。つまり疲れたというのが、率直な感想である。

多分、原文をかなり忠実にそのまま翻訳しているからだと思う。出来れば日本人向けにもっと意訳した表現の方が読みやすかったと思う。

I read this book because I was attracted to the advertisement in the Nikkei newspaper.

As the subtitle says "Bankruptcy of Globalism", it introduces the situation of various conflicts such as winners and losers due to the progress of globalism.

In particular, the second chapter, entitled "12 Fault Lines," refers to the confrontational structure in 12 countries, including Brazil, Turkey, Russia and China.

Personally, I feel that it is a good point to understand the situation in Turkey well.

As I read through these, I had no hope for the situation around the world, and I felt quite gloomy.

Under such circumstances, the efforts of private companies and non-profit organizations will be the only light, but it seems that they cannot be a big force yet.

In any case, it was a book that made me think about what Japan would do as globalism progressed.

However, it was quite difficult to read this book. In other words, it is a frank impression that I am tired.

Maybe it's because I'm translating the original text fairly faithfully. If possible, I think it would have been easier to read the expressions that were translated more freely for Japanese people.

「詩・季・彩 石井康治 四季を詩う彩りのガラス」青森県立美術館 "Poetry, Seasons, Color, Koji Ishii, Colored Glass that Sings the Four Seasons," Aomori Museum of Art

青森の自然に魅せられ、ガラス工芸に新たな息吹を吹き込んだ石井康治氏の作品展。

青森の三内丸山にアトリエを構えて、四季のうつろいと自然が見せる豊かな色彩、鮮やかな変化をガラス工芸で表現している。

以前、アール・ヌーヴォーの代表的なエミール・ガレ氏の作品を他の美術館で見たことがあるが、それらの作品より、色使いが多様で繊細だ。

「どうやったら、ガラスでこんなに繊細な表現が出来るのか？」と思うほど、私は作者の作品群に圧倒された。

展示の中には、どのように作品を作っていくのかを説明する写真もあり、確かに相当に手間がかかっていることが良く理解出来た。

でも勿論折角の機会なので、じっくり川瀬巴水氏の作品を見てまわった。初期の頃の作品から少しずつ変化し、後年の作品はなんとも言えない情感が出てきているような気がした。

そして、全ての作品を見終えた時には、すっかり彼の作品を好きになってしまった。

あのスティーブ・ジョブズ氏も川瀬巴水の作品のファンだそうで、日本に来た時に、何点も作品を買い求めたという。

「旅と郷愁の風景」という副題のとおり、郷愁のある風景を独自の作風で展開しているのが、魅力的なんだと思う。
当然ながら、重たいけど図録を購入して旅行を続けることにした。

コロナ禍で転職した人は皆そうだと思うが、送別会も歓迎会も開いてもらえていない。

実際、私は新しい職場のスタッフのマスクなしのリアル顔をまだ知らない。

それはそうとして、久しぶりの面々との会話はとても楽しかった。やはり、飲み会大好き人間の血が戻ったような気がした。

最後には、お花まで頂き感謝。でも、これはリアルな花ではなく入浴剤とのこと。

そんなものがあるのかと驚きつつ、久しぶりの飲み会に結構疲れて帰宅した自分に驚いた。

この本を私が選んだのは、プレジデントという冊子で、どなたか有名企業の社長が、人生で最良の本として紹介されていたのを覚えていたからだ。

著者は、哲学者で教育者でもあり、独自の日本的哲学とも言うべき「全一学」の創唱者。このことを平たく言うと「人生二度なし」教の祖師とも言えるそうだ。

この本は、著者が大阪天王寺師範学校(現・大阪教育大学)で昭和12年からの2年間、一年生と三年生に行った修身、つまり道徳の授業をそれぞれ筆記させた講義録である。

そのため、まだ18歳や20歳程度の教師の卵たちに対する内容である。しかしこれが実に奥深い。

副題の「現代に甦る人間学の要諦」は、まさに的を射た言葉で、時代や年代を超えて、現代に生きる中高年に対しても心に響く。

私にとっては、「捨欲即大欲」つまり、欲を捨てるとはどういうことか？というテーマのほか、「成形の功徳」「謙遜と卑屈」「最善観」という講義の内容が新しい発見となった。

特に、最善観とは、ライプニッツがとなえた「オプティミズム」のことだが、「我が身の上に起こる事柄は全て、絶対必然であると共に、またこの私にとっては、最善なはずだ。」という内容だった。

楽観主義というものを理解していなかった自分にとって、目の前にある困難を受け入れることが出来た内容だった。

531ページにも及ぶ厚い大作だが、どなたにもお勧め出来る本である。

星野リゾート奥入瀬渓流ホテル Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel

奥入瀬を散策することと、このホテルに泊まることを目的にゴールデンウィーク中に2泊した。

青森駅からは送迎バスで約1時間半という不便な場所であるが、奥入瀬渓流を散策するために、無料のシャトルバスを運行していて、とても助かった。

客室の目の前には、渓流が流れているわけではないが、目の前の若葉が素晴らしい。また、ベッドもソファもその窓に向いて置かれているなど、景色を見ることを全面に押し出した作りになっていた。

雨のため十和田湖でのパワーボートツアーなどのアクティビティが出来なかったが、奥入瀬渓流の見所を散策出来たのは良かった。

朝食と夕食はいずれもビュッフェ形式で、コロナ対策も十分に行われていた。入場時間の指定が必要でした。また、屋外の「渓流テラス」という所でも朝食を食べることが出来たのも良かった。

普段、身近で見る苔なんて、見向きもしない、むしろ汚いもののように思っていたが、このホテルに来て、苔の凄さが分かったのが、何よりも自分の中での驚きであった。

さらに、食堂の前に突如現れたテンを初めて見て、奥入瀬の手のついていない奥深い自然を実感した次第だ。

出来れば、紅葉の時期にもう一度行ってみたい。

季語の説明の他に、その季語を使った代表的な俳句も掲載されており、参考になるようになっている。

たまに、「この言葉がこの季節の季語だったのか？」と驚くこともある。

実は、俳句では季語を2つ使うことは、季重なりということで許されない。
だから、何が季語なのかを知ることはとても重要なのだ。

確かに私のような初心者にはこの本は充分だが、実はもっと多くの季語が知りたくなっている。

私自身の俳句のレベルは上がってはいないが、もうこの本では物足りなくなってきたことは事実だ。
そんなことを言うことが、素人らしいと言われそうだ。

だが、素人ほど背伸びしたがるもの。その気持ちを作ったという意味で、初心者向けとしては素晴らしいのがこの本だ。

それとも、テキストに書かれた注意書きをよく理解出来ていないのだろうか？

どちらにしても、まだ絵画教室などで先生に教えてもらおうと思っていないので、しばらく独学を続けていってみたい。

その革命について、鍵となるのは、PNFストレッチと筋膜リリースだ。これらを普通の静的ストレッチと組み合わせている点に特徴がある。

そして、PNF→筋膜→静的という流れでストレッチすることが良いとされている。確かに実績があるのだろうから、このことについては、そうなんだと理解出来る。

しかし、器具を使う筋膜リリースがPNFと静的の間に入るのは、自宅で自由にマッサージボールなどのアイテムを使えるなら良いが、ジムで行う場合は少々やりにくい。

そのため、筋膜リリースだけを単独で行うことが、良い効果をもたらすかどうか、私はもう少し調べてみたい。

バス停から墓まで歩き、そして墓の草むしりや雑巾掛けなどをするとかなり暑いことに気づいた。その汗が墓石に垂れたのを俳句に詠んだがイメージが湧くだろうか？

著者は「人は見た目が9割」というミリオンセラーの本を書いた劇作家で演出家である。私もこの本を読んで、肯定的な感想を持っていたこともあり、その続編的な内容かと思って読んでみた。

サブタイトルの「『私』を演出する技術」のとおり、自分の残念な部分を直して、いかに自己プロデュースしていくかという内容であった。

著者の言いたいことは、序章を読めばよくわかる。自分のための演出家が必要だということ。

その後の章立ては、エッセイ仕立てで、わかりやすく事例を紹介している。

学者の研究成果の発表ではないため、論理的ではないが、感覚的にはもの凄くすんなりと理解できる内容で、読みやすい。

私が特に面白いと感じたのは、「『物まね芸人は観察の達人』で、彼らは『人にどう見えるか』を考えるプロなのだ。というコメント。さらに『こういうタイプの人は問題を起こしづらい』と演出家の著者が見ていることだ。

また、『成功者の欠点は『成功法則』から逃れられないこと」というのも、とても興味深かった。

さらに、「表情も給料のうち」や「所作の美しさは、品格を語る」という内容も示唆に富んでいた。

あまり無理はしたくないが、誤解されるのは嫌なので、やれることはやってみようと思わせる本であった。

青函連絡船メモリアルシップ八甲田丸 Seikan Train Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkoda Maru

青森駅で時間を潰すつもりで寄った八甲田丸。

展示室内に入るといきなり、当時の青森の日常の風景を模した等身大のジオラマがある。青函ワールドと言われるもので、他の船に、あったものを取り出して、再設置したものだそうだ。

その後に動画説明の部屋に入ると、青函連絡船の様々なことを紹介してくれていた。
自分は乗船したことがあり、青函連絡船のことは、もう知っているつもりになっていたが、全く知らなかったことが分かった。

例えば、レールがあり貨車をそのまま積み込めること。戦争中に米軍の爆撃を受けていたこと。そして、台風で5隻も沈没して1400名以上の乗客が犠牲になっていたことなど。
