一年で一番憂鬱な日 The most depressing day of the year [essay]
今日は、自分にとって一年で一番憂鬱な日である。長く楽しかったゴールデンウィークが終わり、いつもの日常に戻らなければならないからだ。しかし、いつもの日常とは少し異なる朝の始まりだった。
まず、小雨で犬の散歩行けず。さらに、オンライン英会話のレッスンも出来なかった。
その理由は、本日がフィリピンの大統領選挙の投票日なために、多くの先生がレッスンを休んだからだ。
因みに、私はフィリピンの人々にとって、大統領選挙がそれほど大事な行事だとは全く知らなかった。
そして、通勤時も電車が遅れて混雑していた。それも、「急病人対応」などが理由で、久々の通勤で体調を崩す人が多かったのかもしれない。
さらに、本日は、ロシアの対ドイツ戦勝記念日であり、モスクワの赤の広場で軍事パレードやプーチン大統領の演説が行われた。
新型コロナウィルスの感染者数も再び増加傾向に転じている。
フィリピン大統領が誰になるかはともかく、ウクライナ情勢など重苦しい状況が続く中で、何か楽しい気分になることを探していくしかない。

The number of people infected with the new coronavirus is also on the rise again.
