俳句は必ず季語が必要である。では、季語になるとは、どのような言葉か？　それを知るために必要なのがこの歳時記だ。

私は、webで調べたところ、初心者用として一番お勧めなのがこの本だったので、電子書籍版を利用している。

季語の説明の他に、その季語を使った代表的な俳句も掲載されており、参考になるようになっている。

たまに、「この言葉がこの季節の季語だったのか？」と驚くこともある。

実は、俳句では季語を2つ使うことは、季重なりということで許されない。
だから、何が季語なのかを知ることはとても重要なのだ。

確かに私のような初心者にはこの本は充分だが、実はもっと多くの季語が知りたくなっている。

私自身の俳句のレベルは上がってはいないが、もうこの本では物足りなくなってきたことは事実だ。
そんなことを言うことが、素人らしいと言われそうだ。

だが、素人ほど背伸びしたがるもの。その気持ちを作ったという意味で、初心者向けとしては素晴らしいのがこの本だ。
