「川瀬巴水 旅と郷愁の風景」秋田県立美術館 "Kawase Hasui: Travel and Nostalgia" Akita Museum of Art

川瀬巴水は浮世絵師である。衰退した日本の浮世絵を復興しようと、新版画という分野を確立したことでも知られる。

しかし、私はこれまで浮世絵や木版画に興味を持っていなかった。だから、秋田県立美術館を訪れた際は、企画展には期待しておらず、むしろ安藤忠雄氏設計の建物を見ることがメインの目的だった。

でも勿論折角の機会なので、じっくり川瀬巴水氏の作品を見てまわった。初期の頃の作品から少しずつ変化し、後年の作品はなんとも言えない情感が出てきているような気がした。

そして、全ての作品を見終えた時には、すっかり彼の作品を好きになってしまった。

あのスティーブ・ジョブズ氏も川瀬巴水の作品のファンだそうで、日本に来た時に、何点も作品を買い求めたという。

「旅と郷愁の風景」という副題のとおり、郷愁のある風景を独自の作風で展開しているのが、魅力的なんだと思う。
当然ながら、重たいけど図録を購入して旅行を続けることにした。

Hasui Kawase is an ukiyo-e artist. He is also known for establishing the field of Shin-hanga in an attempt to revive the declining Japanese ukiyo-e.

However, I have never been interested in ukiyo-e and woodblock prints. Therefore, when I visited the Akita Museum of Art, I didn't expect the exhibition, but rather the main purpose was to see the building designed by Tadao Ando.

But of course, it was a good opportunity, so I took a closer look at Mr. Hasui Kawase's work. It changed little by little from his early work, and I felt that his later work had an indescribable feeling.

And when I finished seeing all his work, I fell in love with his work.

Steve Jobs is also a fan of Hasui Kawase's work, and when he came to Japan, he bought a number of works.

As the subtitle "Travel and Nostalgia Landscape" shows, I think it is fascinating to develop a nostalgic landscape with his own style.
Naturally, it was heavy, but I decided to buy a catalog and continue my trip.
