菅首相、出馬せず Prime Minister Suga does not run [Impression]
朝刊の一面には、「首相 総裁選出馬へ」と、具体的な調整の日程なども含めて掲載されていた。
しかし、昼には「出馬せず」の報道。
これにはかなり驚かされた。
マスコミのミスリードだったのか、それとも首相本人の心変わりなのかは、よく分からないが、混乱していることは確かなのだろう。
衆議院議員選挙が近くなっているだけに、自民党総裁選だけの話ではないことは理解出来る。議員にとっては、誰が総裁になるかは、死活問題なのだろう。
とは言え、事実上は国のリーダーを決める話だ。自民党内の好き嫌いだけで判断されるのを国民が見てしまうと、与党として維持できるかも不安だ。
一方では、横浜市長選のように、全国的に野党に信頼がシフトするかと言えば、そうにもならない。
誰がリーダーになっても、厳しい状況であることには変わりがないが、こんな時こそ、ブレない筋を持った人が必要だと思う。

On the front page of the morning edition, "To the prime minister's elected horse" was posted, including the specific adjustment schedule.
However, in the daytime, it was reported that he did not run.
I was quite surprised at this.
I'm not sure if it was a misleading media outlet or a change of heart for the prime minister himself, but I'm sure he's confused.
It is understandable that the election of the LDP president is not the only story because the election for members of the House of Representatives is near. For lawmakers, who will be the president is a matter of life and death.
That said, it's effectively a matter of deciding on a national leader. If the people see that they are judged only by their likes and dislikes within the LDP, it is worrisome that they can be maintained as the ruling party.
On the other hand, if it is said that trust will shift to opposition parties nationwide, as in the case of the Mayor of Yokohama election, that is not the case.
No matter who becomes the leader, the situation is still tough, but at such times, I think we need someone who has a solid line.
