「ラスト・ディール 美術商と名前を失くした肖像」"Tuntematon mestari" [Impression]
フィンランドを代表する監督の作品。首都ヘルシンキを舞台にしている。主役の年老いた美術商は、絵を見る目は持っているが、商売はうまく行っておらず厳しい。もう店を止めようかと考えている中で、オークションに出される素晴らしい作品に気付く。そして、無理をして落札する。
その老美術商に疎遠だった娘や盗難などをして素行が少し良くない孫、友人などが絡んでいく。
老人が主役だけあって、なんとも言えない落ち着いた雰囲気がある。
その一方で、オークションなどの場面はかなり緊張感がある。
長年の経験で培った見識で、掘り出し物を競り落とすものの、商売としては失敗し、店をたたむことになる。
それでも、結果的には、娘や孫に対して、一矢報いることになる。美術というより、家族の物語と考えるべき映画だ。

温泉好きの友人が、「温泉に入りたい」としか言わなかったので、どこにでもあるスーパー銭湯か、公衆の温泉かと思っていたが、全く違って驚いた。
彼の話によると、プールのような大きな浴槽で、床は砂利敷きだったそうだ。
国の重要文化財に指定されているだけあって、見所も沢山ありそうだったが、外で待つことになった。
次に機会があったら、是非入ってみたい温泉である。

なるほど、タイトルどおり、江戸の長屋での色々なドタバタ劇が面白い。しかも人情味溢れており、まるで古典落語のようだ。
世知辛い世の中で、さらにコロナ禍で人とのコミュニケーションが減っている今だから、余計に胸に沁みる話が多く、病み付きになるという友人の心持ちがよく理解出来た。

確かに著者の主張には、同じ中高年者として、共感出来るものも沢山ある。
例えば、「本物とニセモノを見極めること」や「威張り散らす人、文句ばかり言う人、断定的に決めつける人には注意するように」と言うことなど。
さらに、参考になったのは、いい加減なことばかり出しているマスコミの記事を読む際には、その記事に「書かれていない情報は何かを考える」こと。そして、その後の展開がどうなっていくかを自らの頭で考えてみることだ。
これは、確かに大事な視点だと感じた。
最後に書かれていて気付いたのだが、著者は、「クリエイティブ・シニアの存在がこれからの日本をリードする」というコンセプトで、この本を書いたとのこと。
その内容なら、納得したが、例によって、タイトルを出版社の都合で、変えられたのではないかと、私は思った。
そう、「書いてないこと情報は何か」と考えてみた結果である。

諏訪大社は他と違うSuwa Taisha is different from others [essay]
全国に約25000ある諏訪神社の総本社。信濃国一之宮である。初めて訪れたが、他の神社と違う点が3つほどある。
一つは諏訪湖を囲んで上社、下社 など4つのお宮があること。
次に、本殿がないこと。木を御神木としたり、山自体を御神体としている。
そして、大木を神社の四隅に立てていることだ。
この大木を御柱と言い、山から切り出して建てる祭りが、あの有名な御柱祭だ。
これだけ有名な祭りがあり、他の神社との違いがあると、氏子の皆さんも誇らしいだろうなぁ〜と思いながら参拝してきた。

お盆に墓参りに行った際、驚くほどケイトウの花が綺麗に咲いていた。それは備えてあるのではなく、雑草として。
春から夏にかけて、家族に次からつぎへと降りかかる問題があり、墓参りが後回しになっていたのだ。
これでは、先祖もさぞかし怒っているだろうと思い、それ以来、月に一度は墓参りに行くことにした。
以前、占い師の細木和子氏が、「墓を綺麗に保つことが、運を開く方法だ」と言っていたのを今更思い出している。
確かに自分が墓に収められるようになったら、「たまには、家族に来て欲しいなぁ」と思うだろう。

そんな彼女が、いかにシンプルにわかりやすく、しかも間違いなく英語で伝えるかを考えた結果、行き着いたのが、「3語で伝える英語」とのこと。その3語は、SVO。つまり、主語、動詞、目的語だけで構成する文だ。
「本当にそれで伝わるのか？」という気持ちを私は半分持ちながら、読み進んだ。そして納得した。
その理由は、英語を話すのは、ネイティブスピーカーばかりでないという事実。確かにノンネイティブスピーカーの方がずっと多いわけで、その際は出来るだけシンプルでわかりやすい表現の方が伝わりやすいことは間違いない。
ということで、「there is文や仮主語のitを捨てる」、「否定文や受身形を捨てる」など、これまで覚えてきたことを一度リセットしないとならない。
でも、文章の構成が簡単になれば、瞬間的に作文するのも、やりやすくなるはずだ。
まずは、流暢に話す前段階として、3語のシンプル英語にトライしてみることにした。

諏訪五蔵「舞姫」Suwa 5kura"Maihime" [Impression]
上諏訪湖畔の甲州街道沿いに立地している5つの老舗酒蔵を巡ってみた。いわゆる諏訪五蔵というが、歩いて回れる距離にそれほど酒蔵が集まっているのは珍しい。霧ヶ峰から流れる伏流水を利用していることで、集まったのだという。
「麗人」という酒蔵の駐車場に車を停め、早速、試飲しようと暖簾をくぐったのだが、残念ながら、コロナ禍ということで、試飲中止とのこと。
仕方なく、近くの「舞姫」に行くと、3種類だけの試飲はしているとのことで、早速頂いた。
そして、他の3つの酒蔵にも行ってから、最後に買うお酒を決めようと考えた。
歩いて近くなのは、そういう時に便利である。なんと、「本金」と「横笛」は、閉店していた。有名な「真澄」は開いていたが、ここも試飲はしていないとのこと。
仕方なく、最初に試飲した「舞姫」に舞い戻り、自分なりに一番飲みやすかったお酒を購入。
3種類のうち、一番安かったが、とてもスッキリと飲みやすかった。純米寒仕込66 翠露だ。
「舞姫」だけが抜け駆けしているのか、そうでないのかはわからない。しかし、消費者は、試飲しないと好きかどうかが判断出来ないのだ。
そうした意味で、試飲を再開した「舞姫」に賛辞を贈りたい。
I visited five long-established sake breweries located along the Koshu Highway on the shores of Lake Kami-Suwa.
The so-called Suwa 5kura, but it is rare that so many sake breweries are gathered within walking distance. It is said that they gathered by using underground water flowing from Kirigamine.
We parked our car in the parking lot of a sake brewery called "Reijin" and immediately passed through the curtain to try tasting, but unfortunately, the tasting was canceled due to the corona.
We had no choice but to go to the nearby "Maihime" and said that we were tasting only 3 types, so I got it immediately.
After going to the other three sake breweries, I decided to decide which sake to buy last.
It is convenient to walk nearby at such times. How, "Honkin" and "Yokobue" were closed. The famous "Masumi" was open, but that shop hadn't tasted it either.
I had no choice but to return to the first tasting "Maihime" and buy the sake that was the easiest for me to drink.
It was the cheapest of the three types, but it was very refreshing and easy to drink. Junmai cold preparation 66 Suiro.
I don't know if only "Maihime" is running through or not. But consumers can't tell if they like it without tasting it.
In that sense, I would like to give a compliment to "Maihime" who has resumed tasting.

木造2階建て、切妻造り妻入り、緩やかな勾配の屋根、雀おどしなど伝統文化の古民家の形が特徴。
勿論、新しくはないが、風情があり落ち着いた雰囲気が静かに旅を楽しめた。宿泊客も若い家族連れなどはおらず、高年齢の方を多く見かけた。
部屋は驚いたことに、和室8畳が2つ、6畳が2つ、洗面もトイレも2つずつという広さ。
食事は、朝夕共に同じ畳にテーブル形式の個室で、ほかの宿泊客の声さえ聞こえない。
手の込んだ料理も美味しく、また、スタッフも明るく気さくな人ばかりだった。
早太郎というのは、近くにある光前寺の伝説の犬の名前であり、それが温泉名として残っている。
檜の内湯と露天風呂が2つずつあり、日によって男湯と女湯が変わるので、両方のお風呂を楽しめた。
訪れた時は雨模様だったが、その雨の雰囲気にぴったりのしっとりとした質感の宿だった。

There are two cypress indoor baths and two open-air baths, and the men's and women's baths change depending on the day, so I enjoyed both baths.

千畳敷カールに行くためにこのロープウェイを利用した。
菅の台バスセンターに車を駐車し、そこからは、約30分間路線バスに乗り、しらび平駅まで行く。
さらに、ロープウェイに約8分間乗車し千畳敷駅に到着。
驚いたことは3つ。
一つは、千畳敷カールの壮大な景観と、駒ヶ根市内や南アルプスの山並みが綺麗なこと。
次は、料金。バスとロープウェイのセットで一人当たり往復で4200円もかかったこと。
最後は、気温差。ロープウェイに乗る前は長袖Tシャツだけだったが、千畳敷駅の気温は11℃だった。
そして、ハイキングして駅に戻った時はなんと8℃。
考えてみれば、歩かないで標高2612メートル地点まで行けることは、とても便利なことだし、時間もかからずしかもリーズナブル。
だから、このロープウェイには感謝すべきだと思った。

Come to think of it, being able to reach an altitude of 2612 meters without walking is very convenient, quick, and reasonably priced.
So I thought I should be grateful for this ropeway.

名勝 光前寺 Scenic spot Kozenji [essay]

国の名勝に指定されている庭園は広く、すべてを見て回るとなると一日がかりとなりそうだ。参道脇に林立する杉の木や苔むした石垣が名勝としての情感を醸し出している。
また、霊犬草太郎伝説も有名で、境内にその草太郎の銅像があった。宿泊した宿は「早太郎温泉」と銘打っていたが、その犬の伝説にちなんでいるようだ。
さらに、今回は見ることができなかったが、枝垂れ桜や参道の石垣内にある光苔も有名とのこと。なかなか見どころ満載のお寺で得した気分だったが、最も素晴らしかったのが、三重塔だ。塗装をしておらず、木材の素地のままのところもなかなか良かった。
思わぬところに素晴らしいスポットがあったが、これも詳細を決めない旅の良さだと実感した。

I felt like I got it at a temple full of highlights, but the most wonderful thing was the three-storied pagoda. It was nice that it was not painted and the wood base was left as it was.
There was a wonderful spot in an unexpected place, but I realized that this is also a good trip without deciding the details.

ハイキング道は歩きにくいけど、それなりに整備されていて、概ね45分で一周できた。確かに高山気分を味わうのには、手軽なコースである。それより驚いたのは、多くの山ガールが本格的な登山コースに向かっていったことだ。
美しくダイナミックな景観と可憐な山ガールのコントラストを手軽に楽しめるのが、この千畳敷カールの素晴らしいところだ。

幼児向け絵本の選び方 How to choose a picture book for young children [essay]
家族から依頼されて図書館に絵本を借りにいった。３歳前の男の子のための絵本である。公共図書館であれば年齢別に絵本が陳列されているものと思い込んでいたが、そうなっていなかった。
当然、どの本を選んでよいのか、分からないので、図書館のスタッフは聞いてみようかと思ったが、接客対応で忙しそうなので諦めた。しかたなく、「ぐりとぐら」という知っている本などを手に取って、借りてきた。
本が好きな子は学力もつく、つまり勉強が好きになると漠然と思っているので、ここで本を好きになってもらいたいとは思っているが、どんな本に興味を持ってもらえるのか、皆目見当もつかない。まずは、実績のある有名な本を沢山借りて、片っ端から読み聞かせるしかなさそうだ。

「現代語訳 渋沢栄一自伝」渋沢栄一、守屋淳 "Modern translation Eiichi Shibusawa autobiography" Eiichi Shibusawa, Atsushi Moriya [Impression]
上映中のNHK大河ドラマを見て渋沢栄一に興味を持ったので、手に取った。読み進むにつれて、ドラマで見た内容とそっくり同じだと感じていたら、なんとこの本を元にドラマが作られていたとのこと。
ということで、ほぼドラマの内容をおさらいする感じで読み終えた。
「日本資本主義の父」と称されるこの偉人の人生は、本当に充実していて面白かったのだろうと、私は羨ましく思った。勿論、初めて事を起こすことは、一筋縄ではいかない苦労もあるだろう。元は百姓の出身ということも含め、理不尽だと感じたことも多かったようだ。しかし、そうした経験やフランス留学で見聞した施策などをもとに、次々に思い通りの事業にチャレンジしたことは、とてもエキサイティングだと思う。
そして、著書の後半には、明治の元勲と呼ばれる大久保利通や伊藤博文などの人物評も掲載されていた。これはとても興味深かった。特に、こうした今は称えられている人が、実は人格者ではなかったこと、変な癖があることを知ることができたのはよかった。一方で、大政奉還を決断した元の主人である徳川慶喜への尊敬の念は強いこともよく理解できた。そうした恩人への感謝の念を忘れずに仕事にわき目も振らずに励んだことが、彼の実績につながったと理解した。
これまでNHKの大河ドラマは戦国時代ものは、最後まで見続けたが、明治以降のものは、途中で見なくなっていた。今回は、この本のとおり進むのかを確認するため、最終回まで見届けることになりそうだ。

And in the latter half of the book, personal reviews such as Toshimichi Okubo and Hirobumi Ito, who are called Genkun of the Meiji era, were also posted. This was very interesting. In particular, it was good to know that these now-praised people were not actually personalities and had strange habits. On the other hand, I could understand well that he has a strong respect for Yoshinobu Tokugawa, the former master who decided to repatriate the Taisei Hokan. I understood that it was his achievement that he did not forget to thank those benefactors and did his best to work.
Until now, NHK's taiga dramas have been watched until the end of the Warring States period, but those after the Meiji era have not been watched on the way. This time, I'm going to wait until the final episode to see if it goes according to this book.

「日本資本主義の父」と称されるこの偉人の人生は、本当に充実していて面白かったのだろうと、私は羨ましく思った。勿論、初めて事を起こすことは、一筋縄ではいかない苦労もあるだろう。元は百姓の出身ということも含め、理不尽だと感じたことも多かったようだ。しかし、そうした経験やフランス留学で見聞した施策などをもとに、次々に思い通りの事業にチャレンジしたことは、とてもエキサイティングだと思う。そして、著書の後半には、明治の元勲と呼ばれる大久保利通や伊藤博文などの人物評も掲載されていた。これはとても興味深かった。特に、こうした今は称えられている人が、実は人格者ではなかったこと、変な癖があることを知ることができたのはよかった。一方で、大政奉還を決断した元の主人である徳川慶喜への尊敬の念は強いこともよく理解できた。そうした恩人への感謝の念を忘れずに仕事にわき目も振らずに励んだことが、彼の実績につながったと理解した。
これまでNHKの大河ドラマは戦国時代ものは、最後まで見続けたが、明治以降のものは、途中で見なくなっていた。今回は、この本のとおり進むのかを確認するため、最終回まで見届けることになりそうだ。

I understood that it was his achievement that he did not forget to thank those benefactors and did his best to work.
Until now, NHK's taiga dramas have been watched until the end of the Warring States period, but those after the Meiji era have not been watched on the way. This time, I'm going to wait until the final episode to see if it goes according to this book.

100年前の大正9年、1920年の小説であり、言葉遣いはとにかく古い。
しかし、NHKラジオで放送された朗読を聴いたので、割とすんなりと情景を目に浮かべることが出来た。
あえて分野を言えば、青春恋愛小説なのだろうが、現代にはありえないような純粋さ、無垢さ、誠実さがある。古き良き日本人の良さを垣間見た感じ。
また、恋愛や友達付き合いに悩む若者の当たり前の感情が、細かくしかも、丁寧に表現されており、そうした部分は現代も変わらないと思えた。
さらに、かなりお金持ちの部類の若者達を描いていることや、見合い結婚が当たり前の中で、自分の気持ちに正直な恋愛を語っていることは、当時の若者達を、さぞ夢の中に誘い込んだのだろうと推察出来る。
白樺派の一人である作者の小説を始めて読んだ(実際には聴いた)が、一世を風靡したことに納得したというのが、感想である。

そのほかにも、付箋の使い方やメールの書き方などもトピックス的に入っており、実践すれば、確かに伝え方が上手い人と思われるかもしれない。
とりあえず、トライしてみる価値はありそうだ。

このコラスと日本の東亜道路工業は協力して、日本で実際に導入するべく、一部の自治体と協議に入っているらしい。
まずは、駐車場や、公園、遊歩道への設置だそうだ。
さらに、他の日本の舗装会社でも、検討を進めているとのこと。これらの道路各社が見据えているのは、EVの普及で、道路に埋め込んだ送電装置で、走行中のEVの電池に無線で自動給電する技術開発も進んでいるとのこと。
この記事には本当に驚いた。そして、嬉しくも思った。発電については、再生可能エネルギーへのシフトが不可欠だが、平地が少なく太陽光パネルの設置場所が限られる日本では、将来性が見えてなかった。
それが、道路という公共空間に設置出来れば、一気に太陽光発電が進むことになる。

アメリカの国務長官で、初の女性大統領を狙う主人公とそれを支援するジャーナリストのラブ・ロマンス。
聡明で美しい国務長官と失業した冴えないジャーナリストは、子供の頃、隣同士の家に住んでいた。
そして、彼女は彼より3歳年上でベビーシッターだったという設定。
確かにありえない設定だが、上手く行ってしまうところが面白い。
世界各国での撮影は、観ている方は街並みなど楽しめるが、撮影費用は大きかったのではないかと思う。
結局は、うまくいくというサクセスストーリーは、気持ちを晴れやかにしてくれた。
それにしても、アメリカという国は下ネタに寛容な国だとつくづく感じるが、それは映画の中だけなのか、本当なのか、行ってみないとわからない。
因みに、原題の「Long Shot」には「勝つ見込みの低い候補者」や「大穴」などの意味があるそうだ。
それを、映画に出てきた内容の下ネタかもと勘違いする自分も、下ネタ好きなのかもしれないが？

10月から始まったNHKeテレの新番組。日頃、通勤で歩く時に大西先生のラジオ英会話を「聴き逃し」のサイトで聴いている私は、この番組が始まることを知っていた。撮りためた8本を一気に観たが、たった10分間の中で、凝縮して定番表現を紹介してくれる仕組みは、よく出来ている。
2週目に挨拶の仕方をやったが、最初の1週目が謝罪だった。そのあたりは、大西先生の何かの意図があるのだろうが、今後どのような展開になるのか楽しみだ。

迷える若い人に是非読んでもらいたいと思った。しかし、彼から言わせれば、それこそ逃げた発想かもしれない。
「年齢や立場なんて関係なしに、やりたいことに突き進めばいいじゃん」と彼に言われそうだ。
電車の中で2時間で読み終えた。とてもやる気の出る一冊だった。

また、仕事中心の恋人と新たに現れたインターネットも使えない田舎のハンサムな男性との違いも明確にされていく。
よい意味で、とてもわかりやすい。言い換えれば捻りはない。
でも、カナダの田舎の美しい風景や地元のお祭りなどは、微笑ましく、しかも羨ましく思った。
こんなに綺麗な風景の田舎なら田舎でなくても、永住したいと思った。
そうした意味では、題名の通りの映画だった。

そして、そのNHK式の7つのルールも紹介されている。さらに、話さないのに評価を上げるテクニックや話す前に成功をとりつける7つの秘策なども、納得出来た。
人前で話す機会の少ない普通のビジネスマンにとっても、「最強の1分自己紹介」など、活用できる場面は多くある。
そして、何故、小泉純一郎元総理のスピーチに引き込まれるのかも、分析されていて、「なるほど！」と、かなり納得出来た。

地質学的に見て地球は新たな年代に突入したとして名付けられたもので、人間たちの活動の痕跡が、地球の表面を覆いつくした年代という意味であることがわかった。
地球温暖化により、日本は勿論、世界中の各地で、災害が発生している。また、動物が絶滅する恐れもある。とても深刻な問題だが、本書は私の目をさらに開かせた。
例えば、ヨーロッパではシリア難民が大きな社会問題となっているが、それが右派ポピュリズムの台頭を許し、民主主義を驚かしている。
そのシリア内戦も、実は気候変動が原因の一つだという。つまり、長期の干ばつによる不作で人々が困窮し、紛争が勃発する可能性が高まっているとのこと。

「華麗なるギャツビー」"The Great Gatsby" [Impression]
1925年の小説が元になっている映画。この作品で4作目というから、名作になるのだろう。
主役のギャツビー(レオナルド・デカプリオ)がなかなか登場しないので、「どうしたのかなぁ？」と不思議に思っていたが、心配御無用！という感じで、力強く物語が進む。
なんと言っても驚きは、日本で言えば、大正から昭和になる頃の時代設定なのに、豪華絢爛な宮殿、パーティ、ドレス、カッコいい車、どれをとっても、アメリカという国の文化に驚いてしまった。
そんな中でも、貧困から脱出し、戦争を経て、愛する人へ尽くそうとする主役の姿が、力強くでも少し切なくも感じた。
もしかしたら、前に上映されたそれぞれの作品と見較べるのも面白いかもしれない。

こまつ座「雨」Komatsuza "rain" [Impression]
井上ひさし氏作の芝居だけを行うこまつ座の舞台。
とても感心したことが、3つあった。
一つは、ストーリー。
主人公は、江戸の金物拾い。つまり乞食ではないが最貧層。それが、顔が似ているというだけで、東北の豪商の主人に成り代われるかもしれないという夢のような話しだ。
しかし、方言を習得するなどして努力しても、そうは簡単に他人に成りきれるものではない。徐々にボロが剥がれてきて、それを取り繕うために、墓穴を掘ることになる。
そんな悪あがきをしても、結局、殺されることになる。実は、藩をあげた壮大な策略の被害者だったのだ。
ミュージカル性あり、コメディあり、切なさもあり、どんでん返しもありで、飽きない流れは、流石によく練られたストーリーだと感じた。
次は、舞台装飾。周り舞台の使い方は勿論だが、その床が斜めになっていた。多分、観客から見やすいように配慮されているのだろう。
また、時代劇で全体的に暗めの背景の中で、「紅花問屋」が背景となるため、綺麗な赤がとても華やかで印象的だった。
最後は方言。東北羽前国平畠藩という実在しない場所の設定なので、正確にはわからないが、東北地方の方言であることは間違いない。
しかし、役者はとても流暢な方言を話していた。だからこそ役者なのだが、とてもビックリした。
作者の井上ひさし氏が山形出身なので、こだわりがあるのかもしれないが、多分、日常的に出てきてしまうくらい練習したのだと思う。
彼らなら、全く知らない国の言葉でも、覚えて演技するだろう。
このほかにも素晴らしいことは沢山あるが、完成度の非常に高い良い芝居を観ることが出来て、満足している。
