「快楽の動詞」山田詠美 "Pleasure verb" Eimi Yamada

私は著者の本をこれまで読んだことがなかった。でも、何となく「快楽」という言葉が著者には馴染んでいるような雰囲気を感じていた。

この本には、「快楽の動詞」のほか、7本の短編が掲載されている。それぞれ違った切り口であるが、「快楽」をテーマにしているところは共通している。

読後の私の感想は、短編小説というより、著者の思いが強く込められたエッセイのように思えた。

例えば、「文体同窓会」などは、文学界における著者の「居心地の悪さ」を表現しているようだ。

さらに、「ベッドの創作」では、具体的な快楽の表現方法について、文学的な表現とポルノ的な表現を比較披露している。

また、最後の「不治の快楽」でも、快楽の表現に対する文学界での快楽容認派とストイック派のバトルを代弁している。

著者は現在では、すでに還暦を過ぎているが、この本は1993年に書かれたものだ。

多分、当時は、女性作家があからさまな性表現をすることに対するバッシングが、文学界内であったのだろうと推測してしまった。

しかし、それは大変失礼なことで、著者からは、「私の作品を読んでから言え！」と叱られそうだ。

と言うことで、そのうち、著者の代表的な作品を読んでみたいと思う。

I have never read the author's book. However, I felt that the word "pleasure" was familiar to the author.

In addition to "Pleasure Verbs," the book contains seven short stories. Each has a different perspective, but they all share the same theme of "pleasure."

After reading, my impressions seemed more like an essay with the author's thoughts, rather than a short story.

For example, "Stylistic Alumni Association" seems to express the author's "uncomfortableness" in the literary world.

Furthermore, in "Creation of Bed", literary expressions and pornographic expressions are compared and shown as to how to express concrete pleasures.

Also, in the final "Incurable Pleasure", she speaks for the battle between the pleasure-tolerant group and the stoic group in the literary world for the expression of pleasure.

The author is now past her 60th birthday, but the book was written in 1993.

Perhaps at that time, I speculated that the bashing against the overt sexual expression of female writers was within the literary world.

However, it is very rude, and the author is likely to scold me after reading my work!

With that said, I would like to read the author's representative works.
