旧新橋停車場 鉄道歴史展示室 Old Shimbashi Station Railway History Exhibition Room [Impression]
新橋から汐留方面に歩いて行くと、高層ビルの足元に歴史的な建物が見える。それが日本初の鉄道駅である新橋停車場。建物は当時の外観を再現したものだが、地下に駅舎とプラットフォームの基礎の石などが残っている。
建物内には展示が出来るスペースがあり、無料で見学が出来た。
自分は鉄道マニアではないので、それほどの興味はなかったが、訪れていた客はとても興味深く展示物を眺めていたので、とても貴重なものばかりなのだろう。
それにしても明治5年にこのような建物が作られていたことを想像すると、やはりこの辺りは文化の中心だったのだろうと理解出来た。
横浜市民としては、このような遺構が横浜にも残っていれば、いいのにと少し嫉妬した。
If you walk toward Shiodome from Shimbashi, you will see a historic building at the foot of a high-rise building.
That is Shiodome Freight Terminal, the first railway station in Japan. The building is a reproduction of the appearance at that time, but the stones of the station building and the foundation of the platform remain in the basement.
There was a space in the building where you could exhibit, and you could visit it for free.
I'm not a railroad enthusiast, so I wasn't very interested in it, but the visitors were very interested in the exhibits, so it's probably very valuable.
Even so, when I imagined that such a building was built in the 5th year of the Meiji era, I could understand that this area was probably the center of culture.
As a citizen of Yokohama, I was a little jealous that it would be nice if such remains remained in Yokohama.
