「ラビット・ホール」KAAT神奈川芸術劇場 "Rabbit Hall" KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater [Impression]
私にとって、久しぶりの演劇鑑賞。新型コロナウィルスの感染者がスタッフの中に出たとのことで、これまでの公演が中止となっていた。そのため、本日が初日である。
ところで、この作品は、ピューリッツァー賞戯曲部門受賞作であり、当然ながら内容はアメリカのものである。
その作品の上演台本を書いたのが、篠崎絵里子氏。アニメ「ちびまる子ちゃん」や連続テレビ小説「まれ」など数々の作品を手がけた方。
また、演出家は、小山ゆうな氏。「人の生き死に」と共にある『日常』を描いている。
舞台は、ニューヨーク郊外の閑静な住宅街に暮らす夫婦は、一人息子を交通事故で無くし約8ヶ月経った頃から始まる。
その事故依頼、夫婦関係も良くない状況であるが、それが家族のやり取りの中で、徐々に溶けていく。
時間が解決している部分もあるが、本当に「日常の中の非日常」を感じた。
そして、5人の役者の演技も秀逸であり、休憩の15分を含めて約2時間半の間、身動きさえも最小限に抑えるほど、集中して鑑賞した。
舞台がアメリカなので、その文化や習慣の違いがあるところが少しだけ違和感があったが、それはやむを得ないと思った。
いい芝居を観ることは、いい本に巡り合えた時と同じような感動がある。今後も、評判の良い芝居があれば、観に行くことにした。

Eriko Shinozaki wrote the script for the work. She has worked on numerous works such as the anime "Chibi Maruko-chan" and the serial TV novel "Mare".
The director is Yuna Koyama. It depicts the "everyday" that accompanies "the life and death of people."
The stage begins about eight months after the couple, who live in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of New York, lost their only son in a car accident.
The accident request and the marital relationship are not good, but it gradually melts in the family exchanges.
There is a part where time is settled, but I really felt "unusual in everyday life".
The performances of the five actors were also excellent, and I concentrated on watching them for about two and a half hours, including the 15 minutes of the break, to minimize even movement.
Since the stage is in the United States, I felt a little strange about the differences in culture and customs, but I thought it was unavoidable.
Watching a good play is as impressive as when you come across a good book. In the future, if there is a play with a good reputation, I will go to see it.
