「日本国紀」百田尚樹 "Japanese History" Naoki Hyakuta [Impression]
私は以前からこの本が気になっていた。500ページに及ぶ大作でとても厚いので、読むのを少し躊躇していた。しかし、最近、日本の歴史に関する本を読むことが増えたので、思い切って、チャレンジしてみた。これまで、私は著者の小説、新書など読んできて、彼は日本の国と日本人をとても誇りに思っていることを知っていた。そんな著者がどのような日本の通史を書くのか楽しみでもあった。
この本は、「私たちは何者なのか？」という深い問いに対して、神話の時代から戦国時代、明治維新、戦争などを経て、日本の歴史を通して知ることで、それを考えてみようとしている。
物語は、縄文時代から始まる。その後は、全ての時代を丁寧に描きながら、平成に辿り着くという構成になっている。
そのため、時代の流れをつかみやすい。個々の出来事もわかりやすく概略が解説されている。
中でも、「コラム」が面白かった。著者が主張したい内容なので、事実かどうかはさておき、百田節が炸裂する。まさに「天晴れ！」だ。
いずれにしても、この本は教科書や学術書でない。著者の言いたい放題である。読み物として、読めば良いのだ。
そして、勿論、自分が知らなかったことも詳細に描かれており、さらに日本の歴史を知りたくなった点で私にとってはもっと早く読んでおけばよかったのにと後悔した。
何より、自分が知らない日本史が沢山あることを知ることが出来た。それが大きな収穫であった。
この本を勧めるとすれば、日本や日本が素晴らしいと思いたい人にとっては、とても気持ちが良いはずだ。そんな人達なら、なにはともあれ、一度読んでみたらどうだろうか？

So far, I have read the author's novels, new books, etc. and knew that he was very proud of the country of Japan and the Japanese. I was also looking forward to what kind of Japanese history the author would write.
This book tries to think about the deep question "Who are we?" By learning through the history of Japan from the mythical era to the Warring States period, the Meiji Restoration, and the war. ..
The story begins in the Jomon period. After that, it is structured to reach Heisei while carefully drawing all the times.
Therefore, it is easy to grasp the flow of the times. The outline of each event is explained in an easy-to-understand manner.
Above all, the "column" was interesting. Since it is the content that the author wants to insist, whether it is true or not, Momota Setsu explodes. It's just "Sunny!"
In any case, this book is not a textbook or scholarly book. It's all you want to say. You just have to read it as a reading material.
And, of course, what I didn't know was drawn in detail, and I regretted that I should have read it earlier because I wanted to know the history of Japan.
Above all, I learned that there is a lot of Japanese history that I do not know. That was a big harvest.
