「俳句、はじめました」岸本葉子 "Haiku, I started" Yoko Kishimoto

これまで著者のことをあまり知らなかったが、日経新聞に連載されているエッセイを読んで、面白い人だと思っていた。

その人が「俳句をはじめた」というので、気になってこの本を読んでみた。

そして、実はこの本を読んでいる途中に、著者について調べた。そうしたら、すでに「NHK俳句」の人気司会者になっていることが分かった。

確かにこの本が書かれたのは、約10年前なので、その間に俳句の達人になったのだろう。そうだったのかと驚くとともに、素晴らしいことだと思った。

私自身は、今年から独学で俳句を勉強しはじめたので、少しでも参考になればとの思いで、この本を選んだ。

結論を先に言えば、少しどころではなく、大いに参考になった。かなりと言ってもいい。そして、俳句の奥深さも感じることが出来た。

この本では、俳句初心者であった著者が、句会に一年間参加しながら、四苦八苦して句を作る様が、紹介されている。それも、とても詳細に描かれている。

予め、本としてまとめることを想定していたことは想像できる。しかし、それ以上に、自分にとってはズバズバと直球が投げ込まれる感覚があった。

著者は、あとがきで、「当時の私は、俳句は知的な遊びだと考えていた。」と述べている。私も同感であるが、そんな生優しいものでないことが、よく理解できた。

あえて、注意点を言うならば、著者は初心者と言えども、人気のエッセイスト。つまり言葉のプロだ。一般人とは、元々の素養、ベースが違う。

だから、全てを鵜呑みに出来ない部分もある。しかし、初心者が俳句の奥深さを知るには、とても良い本だ。自分がそうであったように。

This book introduces the author, who was a beginner in haiku, struggling to write a phrase while attending a haiku party for a year. It is also drawn in great detail.

I can imagine that it was supposed to be put together as a book in advance. But more than that, I felt like I was throwing a fastball.

The author wrote in a postscript, "At that time, I thought haiku was an intellectual play." I agree with you, but I understand well that it is not such a kind thing.

If you dare to note, even if the author is a beginner, he is a popular essayist. So he's a language professional. The original background and base are different from ordinary people.

Therefore, there are some parts that cannot be swallowed. However, it is a very good book for beginners to know the depth of haiku. He was like he was.
