「フェルメールとオランダ絵画展」東京都美術館 "Vermeer and Dutch Painting Exhibition" Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

これまでフェルメールが自分で消したと考えられてきた「窓辺で手紙を読む女」の画中画のキューピッド。

実は、これは何者かによって彼の死後に消されていたことが分かった。

そして今回、元のキューピッドがいる絵に戻す修復作業が終わり、所蔵館のドレスデン国立古典絵画館以外では世界で初めて公開された。

そんな前評判があったので、絶対に見に行きたいと思っていた。
ちょうど、都内に出る機会があったので、それに合わせて行くことにした。

実はオンラインで日時指定券を購入しておいた。予約した時間より1.5時間前に到着したが、多分早くても入場出来るだろうとたかを括っていたが、ダメだった。

東京都立の施設だから仕方ないと諦め、館内のカフェ「アート」で紅茶を飲んで時間まで過ごした。

ようやく入場したところ、館内はかなり混んでいた。列になって一作品ずつ見て回るので、とても時間がかかる。

そして、ようやく「窓辺で手紙を読む女」のキューピッドなしとありの両方の作品を見ることが出来た。

私は、むしろキューピッドの画中画が無い方が構図としてはさっぱりしていて良いとさえ思った。

多分、何者かもそう思ってそれを消したのだろう。いずれにしても謎だが、その修復作業の記録なども展示されていて、とても興味深かった。

その他の展示作品もなかなか素晴らしく、17世紀という写真のない時代の写実的な絵の意味を感じ取れた展覧会だった。

And this time, the restoration work to restore the original painting with Cupid has been completed, and it was released for the first time in the world except for the Dresden National Classical Painting Museum in the collection.

I had a good reputation before that, so I definitely wanted to go see it.
I just had the opportunity to go to Tokyo, so I decided to go with it.

Actually, I bought a reserved ticket online. I arrived 1.5 hours before the reserved time, but I was wondering if I could enter at the earliest, but it was no good.

I gave up because it was a facility in Tokyo Metropolitan, and spent time drinking tea at the cafe "art" in the building.

When I finally entered, the hall was quite crowded. It takes a lot of time to look around one by one in a line.

Finally, I was able to see both the works without Cupid and with and without Cupid in "Girl Reading a Letter at the Window".

I even thought that it would be better to have a refreshing composition without Cupid's paintings.

Perhaps someone thought so and erased it. In any case, it is a mystery, but the record of the restoration work was also exhibited, which was very interesting.

The other works on display were also wonderful, and it was an exhibition where I could feel the meaning of the realistic paintings of the 17th century, when there were no photographs.
