フィリピンの英語表記に混乱 Confusion about English language spelling in the Philippines

フィリピンの英語表記は難しい。
国を表す場合は、「Republic of the
Philippines」で略称は「the Philippines」。

フィリピン人の場合は、phではなくFを使い「Filipino」。女性だと「Filipina」である。

毎朝Filipinaの先生と話をしているので、この程度のことは、勿論以前から知っていた。

が、何故なのかはよく分からなかった。

そこで、今回いろいろとググってみた。
しかし、「the Philippines」とtheを付けることや、最後に付く「s」の理由しか分からない。

そしてさらに謎は深まってしまった。「the Philippines」の場合は、間にあるｐが２つあるが、「Filipino」の場合は、１つだけ。

こんなことにも気づいてしまい、私の頭の中はさらに混乱してきている。

Filipinaの先生に聞いてもいいが、多分、「そう決まっているの」としか答えてくれない気がする。

仕方ない。分からないことはそのまま分からないままにしておくことにした。

もし、何かの拍子にわかったら、とても嬉しいだろうから。

The English spelling of the Philippines is difficult.
For the country, the abbreviation is "Republic of the
Philippines" and the abbreviation is "the Philippines.

For Filipinos, "Filipino" is written with an "F" instead of a "ph". For women, it is "Filipina.

Of course, I knew this much before, since I talk with my Filipina teacher every morning.

But I didn't know why.

So this time, I googled around.
But all I could find was the reason for "the" in "the Philippines" and the "s" at the end.

And the mystery deepened. In the case of "the Philippines," there are two "p "s between "the" and "Filipino," but in the case of "Filipino," there is only one.

My mind is getting even more confused as I realize these things.

I could ask my Filipina teachers, but I have a feeling they would probably just say, "That's the way it's supposed to be.

It can't be helped. I decided to leave what I don't understand as it is.

If I could figure it out at some point, I would be very happy.
