「体サイズ急変、絶滅リスク」日本は大丈夫か？ Sudden Change in Size, Danger of Extinction" Is Japan Safe?

昨日の日経新聞に掲載されていた記事がとても興味深かった。

生物が体のサイズを極端に変える進化は絶滅につながりやすいとの分析とのこと。

「特に大陸から離れた島では捕食者がおらず、脳の縮小や走行能力の低下も起こるという。」という内容だった。

実際に地中海の島で小型化して絶滅したゾウの標本の写真がけいさいされていた。

この情報は全く知らなかったので、とても驚いた。そして、なるほどと納得した。

これは動物などの話だが、日本という国に置き換えた時に、どうなのだろうかと考えてしまった。

人口が減る中で、移民政策を拒んでいると、その国は滅びると、あのジム・ロジャースが言っていたのを思い出した。

A very interesting article appeared in yesterday's Nikkei newspaper.

The report also includes photos of specimens of elephants that have actually gone extinct on Mediterranean islands due to miniaturization.

I was very surprised because I had no idea about this information. I was very surprised and convinced it was true.

It is a story about animals, but I wondered what would happen if we replaced this with the country of Japan.
