「音楽家である前に、人間であれ！」石田泰尚 Be a Human Being Before You Are a Musician! Yasunao Ishida

昨年末のガラコンサート繋がりの投稿。

先日、フランスの古い映画「シェルブールの雨傘」を観た時に、コメントしたが、そのきっかけはヴァイオリニストの石田泰尚さんの演奏だった。

実は、そのコンサート当日の休憩時間にこの本を衝動買いしてしまったのだ。

税込で2000円近くするのに30分くらいで読み終えてしまったが、一つ分かったことがある。

「人は見た目で判断してはいけない」ということ。

その理由は、どう見てもプロのヴァイオリ二ストとは思えない風貌をしている石田さん。

でも、とても礼儀正しく、硬派で真面目、しかも努力家だということがこの本を読んで分かった。

ネタバレになるので、あまり書けないが、その風貌や一見つっけんどんな態度と演奏の素晴らしさとのギャップがこの人の魅力だと思う。

最後に知人からの石田像のコメントが次のようにあった。

タイトルの「音楽家である前に人間であれ！」ではなく、「人間である前にヴァイオリニストであるような人」。

このコメントが一番、納得感があった。

This is a post related to the gala concert at the end of last year.

I commented the other day when I watched an old French movie "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," and it was violinist Yasunao Ishida's performance that inspired me.

In fact, I bought this book on impulse during the intermission on the day of that concert.

It cost nearly 2,000 yen including tax, but I finished it in about 30 minutes.

One thing I learned was that one should never judge a person by his or her appearance.

The reason for this is that Mr. Ishida has an appearance that does not seem to be that of a professional violinist.

But I found out from this book that he is very polite, hard-working, serious, and also a hard worker.

I can't write much about him because it would be a spoiler, but I think the gap between his appearance and seemingly brusque attitude and the excellence of his playing is what makes him so appealing.

Finally, an acquaintance of mine commented on Ishida's image as follows

The title of the book is not "Be a human being before you are a musician! but rather "a person who is a violinist before being a human being.

This comment was the most convincing.
