横浜市長選挙結果 Yokohama Mayoral Election Results [opinion]
立憲民主党が推薦し、社民党、共産党が支援した山中竹春氏が当選した。
マスコミによる事前調査でも、先行していると予想されていた候補だ。
横浜市長としては、久しぶりに政府与党の自民党、公明党が推す候補でなくなり、市政運営も随分と変わることになりそうだ。
今回は、菅首相のお膝元で、しかも関係の深い小此木元防災担当大臣が負けた。また、現職の林市長も同様だ。
この2名の得票数を合わせれば、山中氏を上回っていたが、それは自民党が調整出来なかったためで、言わば「後の祭り」だ。
市民は、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの実施に至る経緯や新型コロナウィルスへの対応など政府への批判があり、菅首相に対する批判票も多く含まれているように感じる。
焦点と言われた「IR」つまりカジノのことなどは、どの程度影響したのか分からないが、「この人にやって欲しい」という強い意思が働いたというより、消去法に寄って山中氏が浮かび上がったと私は考えている。
とは言え、新市長となる山中氏は、もともと、医師でかつ学者でもあり、行政経験はない。だから、当初は市政運営に相当に戸惑うだろう。
市役所幹部や市議会でも自民党の影響が強い中での舵取りになるので、余程、気の利いたブレーンやスタッフが近くにいないと、3つの公約なども果たせないままになる可能性もある。
いずれにしても、日本最大の市である横浜を任された以上、誠実にしかも、死に物狂いで頑張ってもらいたい。(写真はイメージ画像:pixabay)
