「最強の人生指南書」齋藤 孝 The Strongest Guide to Life," Takashi Saito

副題は、佐藤一斎「言志四録(げんししろく)」を読むだ。

誰だろう？というのが最初の私の印象だった。

儒学の祖である孔子の論語は有名で、色々な本が出版されている。しかし、同じ儒学者である齋藤一斎の言志四録は知らなかった。

でも、「はじめに」で、佐久間象山や横井小楠らが齋藤一斎の弟子であること。

西郷隆盛、吉田松陰、勝海舟、坂本龍馬、高杉晋作、伊藤博文、山縣有朋などがその教えを受けたとのことで、私は少し驚いた。

特に、西郷隆盛はこの本から特に気に入った101条を選んで手書きし、それを持ち歩いていたそうで、その行動もこの教えによっていたと思うと興味深いものがある。

そんな「はじめに」を読み、とても私は前のめりになった。

本の構成は、仕事術、人間関係・リーダー論、学習法、人生論を章立てにしている。

そして、各項目は、言志四録からの抜粋文をまず記載し、その現代語訳。さらに、著者の解釈を概ね3ページに渡り解説するという構成。

この本を読んでみて、私は論語よりも親近感を感じた。それは、時代と国の違いから当然のことだろうが、もっと、この言志四録が研究されてもよいのでは？と思った。

The subtitle of the book is "Genshishiroku" by Issai Sato.

Who was he? was my first impression.

Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, is well known for his Analects, and many books have been published on the subject. However, I had never heard of another Confucian scholar, Saito Issai's Kotoshi Shiroku.

However, in the "Introduction," I learned that Sakuma Shozan, Yokoi Shonan, and others were Saito Issai's disciples.

I was a little surprised to learn that Saigo Takamori, Yoshida Shoin, Katsu Kaishu, Sakamoto Ryoma, Takasugi Shinsaku, Ito Hirobumi, Yamagata Aritomo, and others had been taught by him.

It is especially interesting to know that Saigo Takamori selected 101 of his favorite articles from the book, handwrote them, and carried them around with him.

Reading such "Introduction" made me feel very much in front of the book.

The book is organized into chapters on work techniques, relationship and leadership theory, learning methods, and life theory.

Each section is then described first with excerpts from the Four Books of Kotoba, and then translated into modern language. In addition, the author's interpretation is generally explained in three pages.

Reading this book, I felt more intimacy with it than with the Analects. This is probably natural because of the difference in time and country, but I thought that Genshi-Shiroku should be studied more. I thought.
