ラグビーのルールは高校生の時に体育の授業で勉強したが、数十年前のことである。しかも、ラグビーは頻繁にルール改正されている。

そんな中、今年からラグビーの新たに「リーグワン」が始まった。
地元の横浜キャノンイーグルスのチケットを購入したので、折角だから、改めてルールを確認しようとこの本を読むことにした。

まずは基礎知識や基本的なゲーム方法の解説がある。さらに反則とプレー再開方法などだ。

このほかにも、レフリーを目指す人のための、「マッチオフィシャルのために」や7人制のルール、ジュニア(U-15)用のルールもある。

つまり、この一冊で今のラグビールールについては、概ね分かる内容となっている。

ところで、ラグビーのプレー再開方法は、色々と選択肢があり、どれを選ぶかも戦術になる。ハードな当たりが見せ場ではあるが、かなり頭脳戦でもあることが、何となく分かる。

日本ラグビーフットボール協会の監修でもあるこの本は、ラグビーの精神などについても言及されており、まさに観戦でもプレーでも役に立つ入門書として、うってつけの本だと思う。
