ゲルト・ミュラー氏逝去 Gerd Müller passed away

私は、1974年のワールドカップ西ドイツ大会の決勝をリアルタイムで観て興奮していた。

地元の西ドイツは、順当に勝ち上がり、相手は天才ヨハン・クライフ率いるオランダ。
トータルフットボールという新しいスタイルのサッカーは、当時、かなりセンセーショナルだった。

しかし、自分の目を釘付けにしたのは、ゲルト・ミュラー。前回のメキシコ大会の得点王であった。

しかし、彼が決めるのは、豪快なシュートではなく、ころころとゆっくりと転がるようなシュートばかり。
とにかく、いいところにいるセンターファードだった。

しかし、その泥臭いプレースタイルと、必ず決めるという得点力の高さ、さらには長髪でずんぐりむっくりした体型は、強烈な印象を私に残した。

以来、私のサッカーの練習着には、背番号13番が貼られることになった。
