「人生が深まるクラシック音楽入門」伊東 乾"Introduction to classical music that deepens your life" Ken Ito [Impression]
タイトルに惹かれて読んでみた。
あとがきには、「ペットを飼うのと同じように、クラシックを聴いて欲しい」という著者の思いがあった。
一方で、すでにクラシックに興味を持っている人にも、更に深く知って欲しい、というニュアンスも含まれていた。
何故、このことを最初に書いたかと言えば、ターゲットがハッキリとしていないと思ったからだ。
確かに、キリスト教や教会建築との関係性などは、ヨーロッパ旅行に行った際に参考になりそうで、とても興味深い。
また、ハイドンやモーツァルトが沢山の交響曲を書けたのに、その後から出てきたベートーヴェンやブラームスなどは、何故、10曲も書けなかったのか、その理由なども丁寧に書かれている。
楽器やオーケストラのことにも触れている。例えば、大太鼓やシンバルなどは、もともと異教徒の楽器なので、バッハの時代には使われなかったこと。
ヴァイオリンは、もともとはモンゴルの馬頭琴の改良版であることなどだ。
そんな部分は入門者の私にとっても、とても興味深かった。
しかし、かなりマニアックな作曲家や曲、逸話なども沢山紹介している。それはそれでサービス精神としては、良いが、少々辟易としてしまった。
新書という制約の関係で、紙面を埋めなければならなかったのか、有名な指揮者で作曲家でもある著者の知識をどうしても、伝えきりたかったのか？というのが、率直な感想だ。どうせなら、「クラシックに興味を持ち始めた方が、最も好きになるよもやま話集」というタイトルで、加筆して続編を出された方が、ターゲットが明確になって良いのではと余計なことを思ってしまった。

Did you have to fill the space due to the restrictions of a new book, or did you really want to convey the knowledge of the author, who is also a famous conductor and composer? That is a frank impression. Anyway, I think it would be better if the sequel was published with the title "The one who started to be interested in classical music will love it most". I thought.
