「レオン」"The Professional"

イタリア系マフィアの「掃除屋(いわゆる殺し屋)」である主人公役のジャン・レノ。そして、隣に住んでいた12歳の少女役のナタリー・ポートマンがブレイクしたのがこの作品。
アメリカでの題名は、「ザ・プロフェッショナル」。確かに殺しの手口は完璧で、たった一人で一気に数名を殺してしまうのはプロならではの仕事ぶりだ。
そんなプロの殺し屋だが、牛乳と鉢植えをこよなく愛し、しかし、まだ英語をきちんと書けないのが、少し微笑ましい。一方、意外に弁が立ち機転もきく、しっかり者の少女とのやりとりも面白い。
1994年の作品で、子どもに殺しの手口を教えたり、今ではご法度になりそうなことも多いが、気にしなければ楽しめる。
エンディングは、殺し屋と12歳の少女らしい終わり方と言えるかもしれない。
