立春の憂鬱 Melancholy of the first day of spring [エッセイ]
本日は立春。しかし、まだ寒くて「春」とは思えない、暗い冬の真っ最中だ。そんな真冬はとても憂鬱な気分だが、何故なのだろうかと考えた。
実は、自分では寒いと思っていたが、調べてみると100年前の同じ時期より、横浜では平均気温が1.63℃も高くなっているのだ。つまり、横浜の2月の平均気温を調べたのだ。1910年からの10年間の平均は5.01℃。2010年からの10年間は、6.64℃だった。平均気温でそれだけ上がるということは、やはり温暖化が進んでいることになるのではないか？
また、この時期の心配事として、私は花粉症もある。さらにインフルエンザも流行る時期だ。さらに大きな話題になっている新型コロナウィルス。横浜からクルーズ船に乗った香港人男性が罹患していたことがわかった。ということは、横浜駅などを通っている筈である。ワクチンがまだ出来ていないこのウィルスは、脅威でしかない。
そして、最も心配なのが、この騒動が4〜5月にピークになると予測されていることだ。何故、心配かといえば、ゴールデンウィークに中欧旅行に行く予定だからだ。
楽しみにして準備しているのに、ヨーロッパでは、アジア人を差別的にみる風潮が出始めているらしい。日本でも、「中国人、お断り」としているお店も出ているから、仕方がないかもしれないが、なんといっても、中国人と思われるのが、嫌だ。そんな面倒な思いをするなら、時期をずらした方がいいかもしれない。

If I have such an annoyance, I may want to shift the timing.
