横浜馬車道の万国橋ギャラリーで開催中の展示会に行った。

私は美術館には何度も行っているが、ギャラリーは少し敷居が高いとこれまで感じていた。

実際に、入口で氏名などを記帳したら、備考欄に関係する団体名を記入するようになっていた。

ほぼ全ての人が団体名などを記入していたが、私はそうではない。

そうしたら飛び込みの客は珍しいらしく、受付の人が、わざわざ「入口のポスターを見て入ってくれた人です」と画家御本人に伝えてくれたようだ。

当然ながら、少ししたら、当のご本人、つまり先生が横に来て色々と説明してくれた。

例えば、「船を描く画家は少ない」ということなど。

また、10/22に横浜みなと博物館のリニューアルオープン記念で開催される「船のポスターを描こう」というワークショップでも講師を務めるらしい。

さらに、いくつかの船に関する機関紙などの表紙に先生の絵が掲載されているし、今回の展示会の入口には、横浜港振興協会からもとても立派な花が届いていた。

実は、本当に絵を気に入ったので、思い切って一作品、買おうかと思った。

しかし、「衝動買いしたくなった時は、少し時間を置いてから」という、節約家のアドバイスを思い出し、踏みとどまった。

そして、今、頭を冷やしながら本当に欲しいか、自分自身に問いている。

I went to the exhibition being held at Bankokubashi Gallery in Bashamichi, Yokohama.

Although I have been to many art museums, I have always felt that galleries are a bit intimidating.

In fact, when I recorded my name and other information at the entrance, I was asked to enter the name of the organization involved in the remarks column.

Almost everyone filled in the name of the organization, etc., but not me.

The receptionist went out of her way to tell the painter that she had seen the poster at the entrance and had come in.

Naturally, after a little while, the artist himself, or in other words, the teacher, came to the side and explained various things to me.

For example, he said, "There are few artists who paint boats.

He also said that he would be teaching a workshop called "Let's Draw a Boat Poster," which will be held on October 22 at the Yokohama Port Museum to commemorate its reopening.

Furthermore, his paintings have appeared on the covers of several ship-related newspapers, and at the entrance of this exhibition, the Yokohama Port Promotion Association sent a very nice flower.

In fact, I really liked the painting so much that I thought I would take the plunge and buy one of his works.

However, I remembered the advice of a saver, "If you are tempted to make an impulse purchase, give it some time," and held off.

And now, while cooling my head, I am asking myself if I really want it.
