「すっぽん心中」戌井昭人 " Soft-shelled turtle Suicide" Akito Inui

以前、著者のゼンマイという作品を読んで私はとても気に入ったので、読んでみた本。
タイトルの「すっぽん心中」の他、「植木鉢」「鳩居野郎」という2つの短編も収録されている。

どの短編小説も小気味のいい物語展開で、読んでいて飽きない。

私が感心するのは、著者が、人間のダメな部分、いわゆる負の側面をクローズアップするのがとても上手い点だ。

そして、その中で笑いと哀愁を出し、最後はどの作品も、当たり前の人間の良い部分に光を当て、安心させて終わる。

そのテクニックは、著者が芝居の脚本家であることに関係しているのだろうか？

限られた時間や紙面の中で、いろんな感情を引き出して楽しませる劇場型の小説はやはり中毒性がある。

What impresses me is that the author is very good at highlighting the bad parts of human beings, the so-called negative aspects.

Then, laughter and sorrow are expressed in it, and in the end, every work shines a light on the good parts of human beings, and ends with a sense of security.

Is the technique related to the author being a playwright?

A theatrical novel that draws out and entertains various emotions within a limited amount of time and space is addictive.
