「ミロ展 日本を夢みて」"Miro Exhibition: Dreaming of Japan"

Bunkamura ザ・ミュージアムで開催中のミロ展。

ピカソと並ぶスペインの巨匠であるミロが、実は日本の浮世絵や書道、焼き物などにかなり影響を受けていたことがよく分かる、そんな展示内容であった。

ミロと言えば、シュルレアリスム。つまり、かなり抽象的な絵というイメージが強かったが、最初の頃の作品には友人の肖像画などもあり、意外にも、それほど抽象的でもなかったことも発見のひとつだった。

さらには、あの抽象画などの作品の中には、日本の浮世絵、民芸品、陶芸、書道などに強く影響を受けていたことも新鮮な驚きだった。

つまり、ミロと日本とは相思相愛の関係だった、それを紐解くのがこの展覧会の趣旨だそうだ。

そんな感動を覚え、ついつい重たい図録と額縁やハガキなどを購入してしまった。

そして、なんと出口を出たところで、飲料の「ミロ」を一人ずつ配られていた。全く関係がないのに何故かと思ったが、まさに「ミロ」繋がり。ネッスル社の洒落た宣伝だった。

最後まで驚きの展覧会であった。

It was such an exhibition that you can see that Miro, a Spanish master along with Picasso, was actually influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e, calligraphy, and pottery.

Speaking of Milo, Surrealism. In other words, he had a strong image of a fairly abstract painting, but one of his discoveries was that his early works included portraits of friends and, surprisingly, were not so abstract.

Furthermore, it was a fresh surprise that some of his works such as abstract paintings were strongly influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e, folk crafts, ceramics, and calligraphy.

In other words, it seems that the purpose of this exhibition is to unravel the relationship between Miro and Japan.

I was so impressed that I just bought a heavy catalog, a picture frame, and postcards.

And when I got out of the exit, I was handed out the drink "Milo" one by one. I wondered why it had nothing to do with it, but it was just a "Miro" connection. It was a fancy promotion for Nestlé.

It was a surprising exhibition until the end.
