外交ボイコット Diplomatic boycott [opinion]
北京冬季オリンピック・パラリンピックに閣僚など外交使節を派遣しない外交ボイコットの動きが拡がっている。
アメリカ、イギリス、オーストラリアのほかにカナダも追随することになった。ニュージーランドは、コロナウィルスを理由に、外交使節団を送らないことを決めている。
各国は、新疆ウイグル自治区の人権問題を問題視しているのだ。
自民党の保守派も岸田首相に、同様の措置をすることを早く決断すべきと促しているという記事も掲載されていた。
選手にとっては、参加出来れば良いので、モスクワオリンピックの時のような、可哀想な思いをさせることはないので、私も個人的には賛成する。
実は、これまでボイコットを決めている国は、どこも英語が公用語で大英帝国の影響が強い国ばかりだ。
そんな中で、首相は判断を迫られるが、経済的な痛手をどの程度勘案するかだろう。
中国にとっては、メンツが潰れるのが、一番嫌かもしれないが、もしかしたら、先手を打つかもしれない。
多くの国が外交ボイコットを表明する前に、オミクロン株の感染拡大を理由にして、外国使節団を入れないことにすれば良いのだ。

In fact, the countries that have decided to boycott are all countries where English is the official language and the influence of the British Empire is strong.
Under such circumstances, the prime minister will be forced to make a decision, but how much will he consider the financial damage?
For China, it may be the most unpleasant for Ments to collapse, but it may be the first move.
Before many countries announce a diplomatic boycott, they should not include foreign delegations because of the spread of the Omicron strain.
