手に取って目次を見たら、第一章のタイトルが「一人旅の魅力」とある。
これまで、国内はおろか海外旅行も一人旅をしていない自分にとっては、いつか実現したいと、思っていたことだ。
この本は、1999年に発行された本でかなり古い情報だが、約70カ国近くの外国を個人で旅している筆者のノウハウは十分に今でも参考になる。
唯一、参考にならないのは、インターネットが普及して、更に今の方が便利になっていることくらいだ。
旅の準備、ホテル、移動手段、一人の食事、買い物、劇場見物、美術館巡り、トラブル対応など、なるほどと思うようなことが満載である。
更に興味深かったのは、バーチャル・ツアーの試みだ。
コロナ禍の今でこそ、実際にYouTubeなどでバーチャルツアーを体験できるが、著者の提案である地図と写真などから推察しながら、街を探索する方法の方が、手間はかかるが面白そうだ。
これについては、観光案内や旅行サイトなども充実しているので、実際にチャレンジしてみようと思った。

Now that Corona is terrible, you can actually experience a virtual tour on YouTube etc., but the method of exploring the city while guessing from the map and photos proposed by the author seems to be more time-consuming but interesting.
Regarding this, there are plenty of tourist information and travel sites, so I decided to actually try it.
