「ハドソン川の奇跡」"Sully" [Impression]
2009年の1月15日に実際にあった事故を映画化したもの。ハドソン川に飛行機を不時着させ、機長らの決断により、乗客とスタッフ全て155人を無事に生還させたのだ。
実は、興味を持った一つめは、タイトルだ。
邦題は当時のニューヨーク州知事が、称賛のためにつけたもので、それを引用したらしい。
しかし、原題は、Sallyという機長の名前だけだ。タイトルの付け方が日本とアメリカでこうも違うのかも不思議に思った。
さて、内容は、経済不況真っ只中の当時のアメリカにとって、願ってもない良いニュース、まさに偉業の物語。
そのため、機長らは賞賛され一躍ヒーローになった。
ところが、英雄と崇められる機長にとっては、英雄視されることも望んでいなかった。一方では、決断が間違っていたのではないか？という指摘もあり、それにも毅然として立ち向かう。その姿に長年仕事に真摯に向き合ってきたパイロットの誇りが垣間見えた。
映画が終わってから、サービス映像が付録のように流れた。その中で、実際の機長や妻、副機長などへのインタビューが、映画の信憑性を支えていた気がする。
因みに、そうした微妙な部分を丁寧に再現しているのは、クリント・イーストウッド監督だったのには、少し驚いた。
