横浜中華街は閑散？ Is Yokohama Chinatown quiet? [エッセイ]
2日続けて、横浜中華街に行った。春節祭の時期のため、毎年かなり混み合っていたが、大通りを歩いても、人通りは疎らだった。午後6時頃なので、最も混んでいるはずの時間帯なのに。
新型コロナウィルスの発生で、 中国客約1900人を乗せて、横浜の大桟橋に来るはずだった中国のクルーズ船が来なくなったのは、知っているが、その影響なのだろうか？
それとも、コロナウィルス=中国人=中華街と発想から敬遠されているのだろうか？
訪れる我々にとっては、混雑していないことは、歩きやすくて良いが、各店にとっては、大変だろうな〜と思う。
I went to Yokohama Chinatown for two consecutive days. Due to the Lunar New Year, it was very crowded every year, but walking on the main street was sparse. It's around 6pm, so it's the busiest time.
I know that the outbreak of the new coronavirus has stopped the Chinese cruise ship, which had been arriving at the large pier in Yokohama, carrying about 1,900 Chinese customers, but is that an effect?
Or are they avoiding the idea of Coronavirus = Chinese = Chinatown?
For us to visit, the fact that it is not crowded makes it easy to walk, but I think that it will be difficult for each store.

昨日中華街に行った近寄りたくはなかったが、落とし物をして加賀町署まで出向いた、昼間のせいか人はまばらで質素里としていた。
