「くらし、えがく。ちひろのアトリエ」ちひろ美術館・東京 "Life, Drawing. Chihiro's Atelier" Chihiro Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan

練馬区立美術館に行ったついでに、折角だからと寄ってみた。

私は、いわさきちひろさんが子供向けの絵本の挿絵を多く描いていることは知っていたが、ご本人のことはまったく知らなかった。

そしてこの美術館を訪れて初めて、彼女が1918年、つまり大正7年の生まれで、既に亡くなっていたことなどを知った。

また、現在、黒柳徹子さんがこの美術館と安曇野にある美術館、両方の館長を務めていることも知って驚いた。

美術館そのものは、彼女の自宅兼アトリエの跡地に建っている。

大きな通りから少しだけ中に入った閑静な場所である。不整形な建物であるゆえにその隙間となる中庭が落ち着いた雰囲気を醸し出していた。

展示内容は、新聞記者をやりながら挿絵を描いていた下町の屋根裏部屋時代の作品から、晩年の作品まで一貫して見ることができる。

実際にご本人が使ったアトリエをそのまま残してあるのもとても興味深かった。

そんな中、特に、私が感心したのは、徐々に絵のタッチが簡潔になっていくことだった。つまりタッチが少なくなっていくということだ。

出来るだけ最低限の下線や色塗りで表現し、一気に完成まで仕上げようとしているように感じた。

絵の性質にもよるが、プロとはそういうものなのかと感心したとともに、ほのぼのとした絵を見て、気持ちも穏やかになれた時間であった。

While visiting the Nerima Art Museum, I decided to drop by the Chihiro Art Museum.

I knew that Chihiro Iwasaki had illustrated many picture books for children, but I had no idea about the artist herself.

It was not until I visited the museum that I learned that she was born in 1918, or Taisho 7, and had already passed away.

I was also surprised to learn that Tetsuko Kuroyanagi is currently the director of both this museum and the museum in Azumino.

The museum itself was built on the site of her home and studio.

It is located in a quiet area just a short distance from the main street. The courtyard between the irregularly shaped buildings creates a calm atmosphere.

The exhibits range from her days as a newspaper reporter and illustrator in an attic in downtown Tokyo to the works of her later years.

It was also very interesting to see the studio that he actually used as it is.

What I was particularly impressed by was the gradual decrease in the touch of his paintings. In other words, the touches became less and less.

It seemed to me that the artist was trying to express himself with the minimum possible underlining and coloring, and to complete the work all at once.

It depends on the nature of the picture, but I was impressed by the professionalism of the artist, and at the same time, I felt at ease seeing her heartwarming pictures.
