108回の太陽礼拝 108 sun salutation [エッセイ]
ジムのお友達に誘われて、参加したヨガのイベント。
とても有名なインストラクター主催で、横浜のお寺で開催される。なんとキャンセル待ちまで出ていると聞いて驚いた。
ブログタイトルにもなっているように、実はヨガが好きなのだ。
しかし、最近、朝は英会話のレッスンがあるため、ヨガが出来ず、ジムでしかヨガはやっていない。
108回の太陽礼拝とは、ヨガの基本中の基本のアーサナ、つまりポーズを108回やることで、今年一年の煩悩を取り払うというのが、目的だ。
しかし、やり始めても、なかなか取り払えない。「タオルを忘れた。どうしよう？」とか、「隣の人はポーズが完璧のようだけど、インストラクターなのかな？」とか、「ところで、今何回目だろう？」とか、全然、余計なことが頭から離れない。
ただ、しばらくして、だんだんきつくなってくると、先生のヒンズー語？あるいは、サンスクリット語の言葉に合わせて、呼吸を深くすると、何となく楽であることに気がついた。
そんな感覚を覚えてきた時に、ボ〜〜ン。と鐘の音が響いた。
これは、半分の54回目なのか、それとも、終わりが近いのか、と頭の中でぐるぐるとしていると、何回か鐘が鳴るようになり、108回は終わった。
あとで聞くと100回目の時に鐘が鳴ったとのことだ。
いずれにしても、休まずに最後まで、通せたことに感謝し、先生を囲んで、仲間と写真を撮り、美味しいお弁当を食べて帰ってきた。
なかなかない貴重な体験をした一日だった。
