「レ・ミゼラブル」 "Les Miserables"

私は、かなり衝撃を受けた。
レ・ミゼラブルを訳せば「悲惨なる人々」だが、自分の知る限りでは、ミュージカルになるなど、華やかな演出をイメージしていた。しかし、完全に裏切られた。
流石に、アカデミー賞作品賞を取った韓国映画「パラサイト 」と競り合ったというだけある。
実は、昨年春、私はパリに旅行に行ったが、シャンゼリゼやオペラ通りなどのお洒落なパリとは全く違ったイメージのフランスを垣間見た。
その撮影場所は、ラ・ジリ監督の出身地で、アフリカ系フランス人が多く住む犯罪多発地域。
暴力や違法などが日常的な、フランスの、いわば暗部と言える地域の今の現実そのものだという。
気になったのは、パラサイト と同様に「貧困」がテーマになっていること。
韓国と違い根の深い人種差別問題もある。
映画は、まさにドキュメンタリーのような展開で、常に緊迫感がある。暴力シーンもある。
印象的なのは、最後の終わり方だった。緊張感を持ったまま、見終えた。

I was pretty shocked.
Les Miserables translates to "miserable people", but as far as I know, it was a musical and gorgeous production. However, I was completely betrayed.
As expected, this movie only competed with the Korean movie "Parasite", which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
In fact, last spring I went to Paris, but I got a glimpse of France, which has a completely different image from stylish Paris, such as the Champs-Elysées and the Opera.
The film was taken from La Gigli's hometown, a crime-prone area where many African-French people live.
It is said that violence and illegal activities are the everyday reality of France, which is a dark area.
I was worried about the theme of "poverty" as well as parasite.
There are also racism issues that are deeply rooted in Korea.
The movie is just like a documentary and there is always a sense of urgency. There is also a violence scene.
Impressive was the end. I finished watching with a sense of tension.
