The Kawasaki Minato Festival [Impression]

DJI_20231007103002_0006_D-1.jpg

The Kawasaki Minato Festival is being held for the 50th time, and yet I didn't even know it existed.

This may be because I myself had a strong image of "Yokohama as a port town," and Kawasaki was imprinted as an "industrial area.

But, of course, there is also the Port of Kawasaki.
Is it still possible for the city to provide free buses from Kawasaki Station to piston transport participants because the city is fully implementing the program?

My purpose was to see the JMSDF and Japan Coast Guard ships, but the Kawasaki City Fire Department also did all they could to make the event more exciting, with helicopters, ladder trucks, fire boats, etc.

In addition, there were booths by various businesses, from musical groups and stage performances, to booths with creatures for children, to linear motor cars.

Naturally, there was a full lineup of food and beverage stalls, including alcoholic beverages, making it a festival that one could spend all day at and never get tired of.

Next year, I am thinking of checking the event flyer earlier and entering a cruise at the Port of Kawasaki.

What do Japan Coast Guard survey ships do? [Impression]

DSC03069-1.jpg

I did not fully understand what a Japan Coast Guard survey ship does. When I had the opportunity to board one at an open ship, I found out that they have many roles other than just charting.

It was a fresh surprise to me. In particular, the work that leads to the securing of maritime interests, such as surveys to claim national waters,

And also, surveys of the effects of earthquakes and undersea volcanic eruptions on the seafloor, etc., as well as marine pollution.

In other words, I learned that they are responsible for things that other agencies, not to mention private surveying firms, cannot do.

It was a good opportunity for me to realize that I really didn't know anything.

The Silent Fleet" [Impression]

IMG_9562.jpeg

How many years has it been since I saw a Japanese movie in a movie theater? It had been a long time.
But I really wanted to see this movie. I wanted to see this movie because it is a movie about the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and submarines, which I have been interested in recently.

Since the inside of a submarine is a national secret, the public is not allowed to see it, so even if it was a movie, I wanted to see the images that I could visualize.

I felt that the film was highly accomplished, not only with realistic images using meticulous technology, but also with wonderful music and sound, as well as a cast of actors with rich personalities.

Although based on a comic book, the story is also very modern. Military, political, and human characters are mixed in the film, and I never got tired of the content.

The ending of the film suggested, "Of course there will be a sequel! The ending of the movie was a hint that there will be a sequel.

[Impression]

DSC03063-31.jpg

The Maritime Self-Defense Force opened its doors to the public and I went on board the training support ship Kurobe. What training support means is to launch and control a target. It was meant to be a training exercise for the destroyer to fire missiles at that target.

I see, I thought it was like a shooting training disc, but in fact, these target planes cost more than 100 million yen each. I thought it would be a waste if we kept shooting them down, but the Self-Defense official told us that we would avoid them just before they hit, open the parachute by ourselves, and fall into the sea.

He said he would retrieve it, recondition it, and use it all over again. It would certainly be a waste if they didn't do that.
Since I boarded the ship and asked him about it, I learned many things.

Tokyo Bay Ferry Cruises Give Big Thanks to Tokyo Bay [Impression]

DSC02990-1.jpg

I participated in the "Tokyo Bay Thanks Festival: Special Cruise around Tokyo Bay" organized by Tokyo Bay Ferry Co.

The reason for the "Great Tokyo Bay Festival" is that October 1 is designated as "Tokyo Bay Day.
So, instead of a 40-minute cruise between Kurihama and Kanaya, it was a full 4-hour excursion.

Events included live music on board, a hula show, and keyboard harmonica and piano performances.
In addition, a fun raffle based on ticket numbers.

There was also a lecture on SDGs by Dr. Hisashi Kimura, a marine environment specialist well known for his work on Nippon Television's DASH Village.

In addition, food and beverage stalls from various cities and towns in Minami-Boshu and Yokosuka City were also exhibited.
The route passed through Uraga Suido, Daiichi Kaiho, Daini Kaiho, Umihotaru parking area and Kaze no Toa, and turned around off the Haneda Airport D runway.

It was refreshing to see Yokohama Bay Bridge and Kannonzaki from the sea side.
The most surprising thing was that the Uraga Channel is very busy with about 600 ships coming and going each day. For this reason, there are signs and speed restrictions.

I also benefited from learning about the environment of Tokyo Bay, especially about blue carbon.

I felt that the 7,000 yen fare for the ride, including the 1,000 yen meal coupon, was very reasonable.

Japanese Painting: Women in Japanese Painting Look Slender but Strong? Kiyokata Kaburaki Memorial Museum of Art [Impression]

IMG_9543.jpeg

IMG_9542.jpeg

This is a museum of Japanese-style painters that I briefly dropped by when I was in Kamakura.
In fact, it was so integrated into the local community that I passed by it once.
That's because it is the house where Kiyokata lived in his later years, so it doesn't look like an art museum at all.

This time, there was a special exhibition titled "Kiyokata x Literature: Yearning for Autumn Leaves and Friendship with Kyoka," and I felt that there were many push-paintings of literary works.

For some reason, I myself always feel the strength of will of the women depicted, even though women in Japanese paintings are depicted in a slender image in everyone's eyes.

Was the painter conscious of this, or is it just in my mind?

The Yokohama Maritime Disaster Prevention Base was a rigorous training ground. [Impression]

DSC02851-1.jpg

Actually, I did not know what a Marine Disaster Prevention Base was supposed to do.

However, after visiting the base this time, I realized that it is also a place for training of coast guard officers.
In fact, there were deep pools and a huge pool where they could train under the wind of a helicopter and in the waves.

Furthermore, I saw them demonstrate zile work and other skills for rescuing people.

I could clearly understand that being a coast guard officer is a very demanding job with a very wide scope of training, as they encounter a variety of situations, from accidents at sea to dealing with suspicious vessels.

Disaster response patrol vessel Izu is also a designated diving vessel [Impression]

1.jpg

The patrol vessel "Izu" boarded at the Japan Coast Guard's open-house event.

As Japan's first disaster-response patrol vessel, Izu has been deployed in numerous disasters.

However, as a matter of fact, I myself visited the ship without knowing what the functions of other patrol vessels were, so the only difference I could see was that it has a medical office.

However, this ship is also a designated diving vessel and has divers on board.

I was told that they are not on board as professional divers, but are trained and certified to dive while performing their daily duties.

In fact, there were many equipment such as oxygen cylinders, ropes, and stretchers, not to mention wetsuits, stored in the warehouse.

Seeing the tanned and fearless young crewmembers enthusiastically explaining their duties reminded me exactly of the movie "Umizaru.

Tour of destroyer KIRISHIMA [Impression]

DSC02941-1.jpg

The destroyer Kirishima visited on the same day as the previous submarine TAIGEI.
DSC02914-1.jpg

It seems that they decided that they would not have enough time to visit only the submarine, so it was prepared in a hurry.

The variety of weapons and equipment, from missile launchers to Aegis stems to rapid-fire cannons, was interesting from the standpoint of simply observing.

Since a lot of taxpayer money is being invested in this project, it is essential that the public understands the importance of the project, and we must also ensure that we have the human resources to take on the next generation.

With this in mind, the Self-Defense Forces are actively holding open-house events, which require a lot of time and effort.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia, China's naval capability, and North Korea's provocative missile launches have made the situation surrounding the Sea of Japan even more tense, and this was an opportunity for me to understand the importance of strengthening maritime defense functions.

Submarines struggle with sound [Impression]

DSC02887-1.jpg

Until now, I knew nothing about submarines at all.

So, when I received a tweet (formerly on Twitter) from the Yokosuka General Administration Office of the Maritime Self-Defense Force, "Urgent Announcement: Would you like to ride on the back of a submarine?"
so I decided to apply urgently and go.

Compared to destroyers, submarines have a rather eerie appearance.

I learned that it is actually a battle against sound. The exterior is covered with rubber-like tiles that do not repel sound.

The rudder, which is used to dive and float the submarine, made no sound at all, even when we were asked to move it.

I found out that Japanese submarines are among the quietest in the world.

However, I learned that the only drawback is that they are not nuclear submarines, so they cannot continue to dive for long periods of time.

The Self-Defense Forces personnel who guided us around the submarine were very frank and explained everything to us in detail, which made us like the submarine more than we had expected.

Enjoy a Cool Evening Cruise on the Sailing Ship Miraie at Yokohama Port [Impression]

We enjoyed a cool evening cruise on the Miraie, the only sailing boat in Japan that is open to the public. The ship is owned by a general incorporated association called the Global Human Resource Development Organization, and is used mainly for corporate training of new employees.

This time, however, We were able to cruise around Yokohama Harbor on a sailing boat while enjoying beer and barbecue, which is a completely different purpose from training.

Although we had only one of the smallest jib sails, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of lifting the sail by ourselves, seeing the sunset as if we were seeing it for the first time in Yokohama Harbor, and even having a barbecue inspired by pirate cuisine.

With food and drinks, the fare was very reasonable at 5,000 yen/person for a 2-hour ride starting at 6pm.
It seems that ports around Japan offer this kind of program on an irregular basis, so if you are interested, why not give it a try?

At a vending machine corner near the ticket gate of a certain station in Yokohama City, there is an entomophagy.

Crickets and other insects are sold in cases.

I had heard that people were eating them these days, but I had not expected that they would be sold in a vending machine, so I was quite surprised!

And the most expensive one, 2,600 yen, is a tarantula. They even sell scorpions.

It is very strange that anyone would buy it, but I realize that times are changing.

I would never eat them, though.

History, culture, and nature: Kitanomaru Park has all three in spades! [Impression]

SnapShot(34)-1.jpg

To tell the truth, I have only been to the Nippon Budokan a few times and have never taken the time to explore Kitanomaru Park.

And this time, I realized once again that it is a "top-notch" park with a triumvirate of history, culture, and nature.

Originally, it was Edo Castle. In the Meiji era, it was a barracks for the Imperial Guard Division. Later, it became the Imperial Palace, and was opened to the public on the occasion of the Emperor Showa's 60th birthday.

For this reason, the Tayasu-mon Gate and Shimizu-mon Gate of Edo Castle are important cultural properties, and the building used as the headquarters of the Konoe Division remains as a branch of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.

Furthermore, there are Hikarigoke mosses, a natural treasure, and the famous Chidorigafuchi, where visitors can enjoy nature in all seasons.

As you know, the Nippon Budokan is the center of Japanese martial arts and is also used for concerts and other music and performing arts.

It is also a top-notch place in terms of culture, with a national museum, science museum, and archives.

As a third-rate person, I have not been able to visit this park very often, but I would like to continue to visit in the future, dreaming that by being exposed to the very best, I can first step up to the second-rate level.

The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo given by a private individual. [Impression]

Whenever a rather hot exhibition is held, I have the quality of visiting the museum even if I don't know much about it.

In fact, this was my first visit to the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the venue for the Gaudi and Sagrada Familia exhibition I reported on the other day.

I was surprised to find out that I had never been to this museum, even though it was the first national art museum in Japan.

The location, Kitanomaru Park in the outer gardens of the Imperial Palace, is right in the heart of Tokyo.

Although the building was completed in 1969, architect Yoshiro Taniguchi's design is modern without being old-fashioned. The thick colonnades and convex and concave beams were distinctive features of the building.

What was most surprising was that although it is a national building, it was not built by the government, but was constructed and donated by a private individual.

It was Shojiro Ishibashi, founder of Bridgestone Corporation.

Formerly the Bridgestone Museum of Art and now the Artizon Museum of Art, I think he had a deep knowledge of art and a feeling for it.

It is something that would never happen today, but I felt somewhat privileged to know that the first national museum of art had such an episode.

Fisheries Agency's fisheries research vessel "Kaiyo Maru" opens to the public for the first time. [Impression]

DSC02494-1.jpg

The Fisheries Agency's fisheries research vessel, the third generation "Kaiyo Maru," was put into service in March of this year. The third generation "Kaiyo Maru" was opened to the public for the first time in Japan.

To tell the truth, I had no idea of the necessity or role of fisheries research vessels. I simply wanted to see the new vessel open to the public.

And I was shocked to learn many facts. That is, salmon and saury are no longer being caught due to rising water temperatures caused by global warming.

Despite these changes in the environment, each country's circumstances can cause them to overfish.

That is why we need to accurately suppress the current situation with data and discuss it with other countries.

I understood well that this is what the survey is for.

It was a little shocking to understand the meaning and role of the Fisheries Agency and fisheries surveys, which I had not been familiar with before, and also that they actually have a direct impact on our dietary habits.

I was surprised at the state-of-the-art equipment that only a new ship can have, and was delighted by the crew's enthusiastic explanations and responses, and left the first public viewing with great satisfaction.

I hope you will also watch the video for your reference. I think this is probably the first video of the public that is not from an official site.

Red Brick Warehouse and Shinko Circle Walk [Impression]

SnapShot(198)-1.jpg

The Red Brick Warehouse has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Yokohama. There is almost always some kind of event going on here.

In fact, the Yokohama Disaster Prevention Fair 2023 will be held tomorrow, on the 2nd and 3rd.

Therefore, the day before or the day after such an event is held, it is sometimes difficult to take pictures because of the preparation and cleanup work being done by the vendors.

Therefore, we recommend that you check the event information carefully before you go.

If you are heading to the Red Brick Warehouse on foot, you can get there from Bashamichi Station, Minatomirai Station, or Sakuragi-cho Station.

You will surely see the Shinko Circle Walk.

As the name suggests, it is a circular pedestrian bridge. It is a trussed pedestrian bridge with a total circumference of 225.5 meters.

Since there is no pedestrian crossing below, you inevitably have to cross this pedestrian bridge, which actually makes you feel like you are walking a long distance, but it is forgivable because it looks so photogenic.

When you go to the Red Brick Warehouse, you will inevitably walk, but since it is a good opportunity, why don't you take a picture?

Gaudi and the Sagrada Familia Exhibition [Impression]

IMG_E9328-1.jpg

IMG_E9331-1.jpg

I visited the "Gaudi and Sagrada Familia" exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.

I went on a weekday afternoon with a specific date and time, but it was very crowded, and I realized once again how popular Gaudí is.
I realized how popular Gaudi's works are.

The entire exhibition was divided into four chapters, which made it easy to understand the source of Gaudi's imagination and his genes.

In particular, the third chapter, Trail of the Sagrada Familia, was open for photography, and I suspect that many people posted their photos on social networking sites.

I myself saw the Sagrada Familia and other buildings Gaudi worked on in Barcelona six years ago.

One of the most surprising things was how different the atmosphere was when I went inside from what it looked like from the outside.

I was impressed by the fact that this was introduced in a video at the exhibition, so that visitors could experience the buildings to some extent without having to go to the trouble of going to Barcelona.

The splash of the amphibious bus "Skyduck Yokohama" is amazing! [Impression]

DSC02489-1.jpg

I had a sudden urge to take a ride on an amphibious bus that I had seen from time to time before.

As it happened, the Pokemon Battle World Tournament was being held in Yokohama, and the body of the bus was also decorated with Pokemon specifications.

The entire ride takes 50 minutes, but 10 minutes on land and 40 minutes at sea.

The amphibious bus is the only way to experience the moment of entering the sea from the land and the moment of coming up from the sea to the land.

In particular, the moment you enter the ocean from land, you land on the water at once from the slope, and there is quite a splash.

Naturally, if you are seated in the front, you will get completely wet. It was like an amusement park attraction.
It was like an amusement park attraction.

Other than that, I liked the view and spots that can only be seen from the sea, such as seeing the cruise ship Nihonmaru up close and personal, and the three towers of Yokohama at the same time.

There are many sightseeing spots in Yokohama, but I felt that Skyduck Yokohama was a must-see experience.

Tonbori River Cruise is the best sightseeing attraction in Minami, Osaka. [Impression]

SnapShot(173)-1.jpg

This is a long title, but it is actually a photo from a trip to Osaka I took in February of this year.

Since May, I have been posting only "travel-related" articles, and I have imposed on myself to post twice a week, but I am not able to go out on a trip that often.

So I go out to search for sights and attractions in and around Yokohama, where I live, to take videos and photos.

So, recently, I have been doing a lot of travel-related things, especially boat-related things. (This is probably related to my YouTube posts as well...)

However, I was running out of such material and was in trouble when I remembered this Tombori River Cruise.

I know you might say, "It's not fair to bring up photos from the past," but I'm sorry. Please forgive me.

In any case, it is still a must-see attraction, so by all means, if you visit Osaka, please try it.

Fuji Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine and Shizuoka Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center [Impression]

The former is also a component of the World Heritage List and is the main shrine of the approximately 1,300 Sengen shrines in Japan.

It is also the first shrine on the Suruga, and its sacred body is Mt.F uji.

The main shrine and worship hall were built by Ieyasu Tokugawa, and are designated as national important cultural properties.

The very unusual structure called Sengen-zukuri is also a highlight of the shrine.

However, this cannot be seen from the front of the main hall, so it can only be seen from the side.

There is also a pond called Wakitama-ike, which is fed by melted snow from Mt. Fuji. The water is so plentiful that children were playing with it downstream.

Walking along the stream downstream, you will find the Shizuoka Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center. Designed by architect Shigeru Ban, the dynamic upside-down Mt. Fuji is represented by the use of Fuji cypress.

Fuji, but most of all, the view of Mt. Fuji from the observation deck was exceptional.

I visited Miho no Matsubara for the first time in probably several decades. Since I had no memory of it, I was able to enjoy it with a fresh feeling and perspective.
DSC02262-1.jpg

After all, on the second day of our two day and one night tour, we were delighted to finally be able to see the summit of Mt.

The wide sandy beach, beautiful coastline and pine forests, including the pine trees of Hagoromo, as well as the Miho Shrine and its approach, "Kami no Michi," were all worth seeing.

Furthermore, the Shizuoka City Miho no Matsubara Culture and Creation Center, a.k.a. "Miho Shirube," which was established in March 2008, was a must-visit spot before actually seeing Miho Matsubara, as it truly combines the two meanings of "knowing Miho" and "signposting the way.

Next time, I would like to visit during the season when I can see snow-capped Mt.Fuji.

Excavation of the castle tower is underway at Sunpu Castle. [Impression]

When I went to Shizuoka on business seven or eight years ago, I visited Sunpu Castle Park during a gap in my trip.

The appearance of the castle had changed a lot between that time and this time. This time, they were excavating the castle tower.

Unfortunately, most of the buildings of Sunpu Castle, where Ieyasu Tokugawa lived in his later years, were destroyed by fire and earthquake.

However, the East Gate and the Tatsumi Tower are gradually being reconstructed, so we will keep a watchful eye on the future progress of the castle.

Nihondaira and Kunouzan Toshogu are still easy to get to by ropeway! [Impression]

DSC02118-1.jpg

Mt.Fuji and Tokugawa Ieyasu as the theme of my visit to Shizuoka. So we first went to Nihondaira.

The "Yume Terrace" built at the top of Nihondaira is the center of the view.

The building by Kengo Kuma, a world-renowned architect who designed the National Stadium, offered a 360° view.

However, was my usual conduct bad? Mt.Fuji was hidden by clouds and I could not see it.

To regain my composure, I took the Nihondaira ropeway to Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine.

Although Nikko Toshogu is the most famous shrine in Japan, Kunouzan Toshogu also houses Ieyasu's tomb (mausoleum), and the main shrine and the hall of worship are national treasures.
The main shrine and the hall of worship are national treasures.

I really wanted to go up or down the 1159 stone steps "Ichi-ichi Gokuro-san," but I did not, partly because I took the wrong bus and partly because it was too hot and I did not feel like walking.

I just have to choose the easier and cooler way in summer.

I would like to try it next time. I don't know when that will be...?

The Hammerhead is a historical civil engineering and industrial heritage crane. Adjacent to the Hammerhead Park, where this crane is preserved, is the "Yokohama Hammerhead" facility.

Also listed as the Shinko Pier Cruise Terminal, it is actually equipped with a CIQ hall that handles customs, quarantine, and immigration control when passenger ships such as the Nippon Maru call at the port.

In addition, the 3rd through 5th floors are occupied by the Inner Continental Yokohama Pier 8 hotel.
The hotel is located on the third to fifth floors.

Although I live in Yokohama, I was not really aware of the Hammerhead until last year when I bought a camera.

Recently, when I took a cruise ship to see the night view of factories, I used this facility as a boarding place, bought tickets, and ate ramen noodles.

The bay area of Yokohama, including the Minato Mirai district, is changing little by little, and I feel that it is a very interesting sightseeing spot that I never get tired of.

⁈ [Impression]

DSC02076-2.jpg

DSC02012-2.jpg

I took a cruise on the "Kawasaki Super Factory Night View Cruise," a term that would have been unthinkable in the Showa Era (1926-1989), but I learned that it has become popular nowadays.

This cruise offers a nighttime view of the factories of Kawasaki, the main industrial area in the Keihin Industrial Zone, from the sea.

Although the name of the ship is KAWASAKI, the actual boarding and disembarking point is Yokohama's Shinko Pier.

It is also a hot spot these days because the first hammerhead crane used for cargo handling in Japan is preserved there.

With the 19:00 departure in the evening, I managed to take both photos and videos of the evening view around Yokohama.

However, as night fell and we entered the industrial area of Kawasaki, it became darker, the ship swayed more, and the distance to the factories made it more difficult to take videos.

So, unfortunately, I could not take many pictures of the factory night view of the Kawasaki area, and I was feeling depressed.

However, at the end of the tour, I won the "rock-paper-scissors" game held by all the passengers on board and received two tickets to board the "Marine Rouge" ship.

So, in fact, it was a "Yokohama Factory Night View Cruise" with a sense of depression and joy.

This is a magnificent Gokoku Shrine located next to the Kairakuen parking lot.

It was particularly unusual that the approach to the shrine is paved with gravel.

There were also many sake barrels lined up, which must have been sent from the local area.

The main shrine was magnificent, and yet the grounds, with its lawn, looked as if it could be the site of a festival.

It may be obvious, but there was also a memorial to the victims of the Greater East Asia War.

Kairakuen Garden can be enjoyed even in summer [Impression]

DSC01942-1.jpg

On my way back from visiting the Fukuroda Falls, I stopped by Kairakuen Garden in Mito. It is famous for its ume plum blossoms, but I found it to be enjoyable even in summer.

This is because when Prince Nariaki Tokugawa built Kairakuen, he incorporated the concept of "yin and yang" into his design.

In fact, when you enter the garden through the front gate, you will first see a forest of large cedars and moso bamboo. Because sunlight could not reach this area, it was a quiet and tranquil space.

It also felt very cool and was truly a space of "shade.

On the other hand, Miharu Plaza, the garden, and Senba Lake, as seen from Kobun-tei, are bright and pleasant "yang" spaces.

Kobun-tei also has other attractions, and I had a plum soda at the coffee shop.

Probably a drink you would never order around February, the ume season.

And the best part is that it was not crowded, so we were able to enjoy Kairakuen in summer at a leisurely pace.

We stayed here to visit the Fukuroda Falls. It is a serene inn located a 5-minute walk from the waterfall.

It looks large with three floors, but there are only 15 rooms. Therefore, it is quiet without feeling crowded.

There is a restaurant on the first floor and a large public bath and outdoor hot spring on the third floor. The outdoor baths were very nice.

The rooms are almost the same type of Japanese-style room, 10 tatami mats. What is unusual is that there is a sunken kotatsu and a chair with an ottoman.

Bottled water was included as a service.

Dinner was all local ingredients and very stylishly arranged, like French cuisine.

However, what I can't help but remember is the sake set.
For 1,000 yen, you could compare three different kinds of local sake, but it was a very large amount, and I quickly became intoxicated.

The breakfast was also excellent, especially the homemade tofu. The grilled fish was not river fish but sardines for some reason.

The cost of our stay was 17300 yen per person, excluding alcohol, etc. The staff was friendly and pleasant.

If you are planning to visit Fukuroda Falls or hike Mount Tsukii, I recommend this inn.

Cool off at Fukuroda falls! [Impression]

DSC01927-1.jpg

Cool off at Fukuroda Falls, one of the three most famous waterfalls in Japan!

It is very hot in Yokohama today, 32 degrees Celsius, but it feels much hotter than that.

So, I would like to introduce a place where you can feel a little cooler.

It is the Fukuroda Falls in the town of Ogo, Ibaraki Prefecture.

An amazing waterfall. I have never seen anything like it!
That was the true feeling.

In fact, my partner had told me that I should have been there before, and I thought I had, but no.

I often forget things, even rather recent things, so it is hard for me to confidently refute things from the past, but for once, I can say that I had never seen it before.

It was that shocking.

(By the way, just for the record, I am sure that I do not have juvenile dementia. Maybe...?)

It is 120 meters high and 73 meters wide, with four tiers and a lot of water, so it is very powerful.

Also, to get there, you have to pay 300 yen to go through a hinny place called "Kanfaku Tunnel".

In addition, you can see a different view of the waterfall from the high observatory by taking the elevator.

In addition, there is a monument to the "Lover's Sanctuary" and a suspension bridge, making it a waterfall with much to see.

Since you cannot get close to the waterfall basin, I did not feel many negative ions, but I think it feels a little cooler in summer.

I was convinced that this is one of the three most famous waterfalls in Japan.

Yamashita Park continues to maintain its charm! [Impression]

IMG_9089.jpeg

If you ask people of the Showa generation, "What is the most famous park in Yokohama? Yamashita Park is the most famous park in Yokohama.

Since its opening in 1930, after the rubble from the Great Kanto Earthquake was reclaimed, the park has become synonymous with Yokohama.

Recently, with the establishment of the Minato Mirai district, it may have an image of an old place.

However, with the renovation of the nearby Marine Tower and the opening this spring of a new café-restaurant in the park called "The Wharf HOUSE," which also has a footbath, I feel that the area is once again in the limelight.

Many people may know that the Hikawa Maru, built in 1930 and the same year as the Hikawa Maru, is now docked here.

The other day, as I boarded the ship for the first time in decades and took a video, I recognized once again that Yamashita Park has become more vibrant.

I hope that the park will continue to maintain its appeal so that people of the 2025 generation will say, "When I think of Yokohama Park, I think of Yamashita Park!
